PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Chris Cornell (ranked 3303 p4p, 0 weight class) and Patrice Beaudry (ranked 2055 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Patrice Beaudry!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Cornell.
Beaudry tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Cornell dives in for a single leg takedown but Beaudry sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

and Beaudry counters with a single leg into guard. Cornell didn't expect that.

Cornell escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Beaudry gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Cornell wants to get back to full guard.
Beaudry is looking to take a break and control but Cornell is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Cornell had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Beaudry defends it easily.

Cornell is not content to let Beaudry control the position.
Cornell is looking for a sweep. Beaudry is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Beaudry is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Cornell is just riding it out for now. Beaudry eventually gives up the hold.

Beaudry got a little sloppy there for a moment and Cornell has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Beaudry has managed to get both his arms back between Cornell's legs - danger averted.

Cornell dives in and grabs Beaudry's left leg, looking for a takedown. Beaudry pushes down on Cornell's head and hops out.

Cornell is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Beaudry takes his opponent's back. Perhaps a chance to lock up a rear naked choke here.

Beaudry is working the back position looking for the choke. Oh, he's slid into an armbar! Beautiful transition and Cornell taps out! Fantastic Jiu Jitsu from Beaudry.
