The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way.

Gracie felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

Gracie reaches up around Jitsu's neck trying to control. But Jitsu takes advantage instantly and he's locked on an arm triangle! Big trouble for Gracie! Oh that looks nasty! A human being's head is not meant to turn that color! Gracie is out! He's gone limp! The ref steps in to break the fighters up and Jitsu celebrates the victory with the fans!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 6:22 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Jiu Jitsu!
A relieved looking Jiu Jitsu thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
The defeated Santiago Gracie had this to say: 'You just beat a red belt. That is no easy feat. Congrats buddy. '.
