Coming up we have a heavyweight Tycoon World Grappling Championship rules bout between Fletch Brandis (ranked 2222 p4p, 197 weight class) and Grover Dowiyogo (ranked 6617 p4p, 711 weight class). Brandis comes into the arena with Voodoo blaring out of the sound system. The crowd seem to be enjoying Dowiyogo's choice of entrance music: another life - kano. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.
This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Los Angeles, with a TWGC record of 2 wins and 0 losses; Fletch Brandis! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Las Vegas, with a TWGC record of 4 wins and 2 losses; Grover Dowiyogo! The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Cecil Peabody and Daniel Franklin.
The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Brandis shoots in for a takedown but Dowiyogo shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Dowiyogo closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Brandis goes for a takedown in the clinch but Dowiyogo prevents it.
Dowiyogo decides to pull guard. Brandis drops back, looking for a kneebar! Dowiyogo looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Dowiyogo looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Dowiyogo! Score +4 for clean sweep to past guard: Brandis (0) vs (4) Dowiyogo Dowiyogo wants to control but Brandis is keeping him busy. Dowiyogo is trying to get an arm triangle but Brandis is defending well. Brandis prevents Dowiyogo from moving into mount. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Brandis gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard. Brandis keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount.
That's one minute gone in the round. Brandis's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. Brandis looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. The fighters are battling for position here. Brandis manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Brandis working for a triangle but Dowiyogo defends it easily.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Dowiyogo looking to pass the guard. Dowiyogo stays in close to Brandis's body and controls the position. Brandis throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Dowiyogo escapes and throws Brandis's legs to the side, diving into side control! Score +3 for passing guard: Brandis (0) vs (7) Dowiyogo Brandis wants to control but Dowiyogo postures up. Brandis is not content to let Dowiyogo control the position. Dowiyogo really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Brandis. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Dowiyogo tries to advance to mount but Brandis denies him. Dowiyogo wants to lay and pray for a moment but Brandis keeps working. Brandis tries to bench press Dowiyogo off him but Dowiyogo keeps the position. Brandis is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard. The fighters are battling for position here. Brandis manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Brandis working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Dowiyogo doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Dowiyogo manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Dowiyogo avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Brandis looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Dowiyogo must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Brandis is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Dowiyogo has his hands clasped together but Brandis extends and breaks Dowiyogo's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Brandis.
