Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tua Hohepa! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mamadou Yered! The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Gwen Towbar and Alan Glass.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Yered manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Hohepa on his heels. He'll look to pass Hohepa's guard now, I'm sure. Yered postures up and lands a big shot to Hohepa's brow. Hohepa can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Yered controls the pace. Hohepa has momentary wrist control but Yered slips an elbow through the middle. Hohepa wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Yered is now in half guard. Yered keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Let's hope that Yered has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. Yered landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
That's one minute gone in the round. Yered is figuring out what he wants to do next. Yered looks to score some points with some ground and pound. Yered is figuring out what he wants to do next. Hohepa has hold of Yered's hands but Yered slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Yered passes to side control.

Hohepa was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly. Yered postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Hohepa looks a forlorn figure.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Yered cracks Hohepa with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Yered content just to control the position here. Hohepa is in a horrible position here. Yered smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Hohepa is rocked!
That's three minutes gone in the round. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Yered content just to control the position here. Oh Hohepa is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Yered has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Yered scoring with strikes but Hohepa is staying in there. Yered working away from the top, dropping strikes. Hohepa takes a big shot to the dome and his eyes have rolled back in his head! Yered's killer instinct has kicked in as he finishes the fight with more strikes. Impressive finish.
