Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Samuel Gervais (ranked 946 p4p, 106 weight class) and Wale Ammond (ranked 491 p4p, 57 weight class). Gervais's entrance music is Arcade Fire - Ready to Start. A fine choice. Ammond has chosen Bad as his entrance music. This should be a great matchup!

10 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Wale Ammond! The judges for this bout are , Don Winkell and Jack Bonds.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gervais connects with a crisp jab. Ammond gets a takedown into half guard. Ammond missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Gervais is looking to escape. Ammond missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Gervais has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance. Ammond throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Ammond is looking for submissions but instead, Gervais has regained full guard.
Ammond looking to pass the guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Ammond sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Gervais's guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Gervais won't allow Ammond to pass to mount. Gervais holds on tight, trying to prevent any damage. Gervais prevents Ammond from improving position. Ammond is trying to get an arm triangle but Gervais is defending well. Ammond sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Gervais is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.

Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. Gervais has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Ammond is proving hard to escape from. Both fighters have adopted an aggressive gameplan on the ground!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ammond controls Gervais momentarily but Gervais frees himself. Gervais postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Ammond is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Nice strikes from Ammond there. Ammond is trying to work for a kimura but Gervais is defending well.
The fighters are battling for position here. Gervais manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Ammond pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Gervais is keeping the position for now. Gervais controlling the position. Ammond scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Ammond throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Gervais works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Ammond throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Gervais trying to control the position here. Gervais has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. Ammond wants to pass the guard but Gervais is keeping the position. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Ammond trying to control but Gervais is working from the bottom. Ammond is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Wale Ammond dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Gervais jabbing away but nothing is landing. Excellent takedown into side control there by Ammond. Gervais is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Ammond working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Ammond tries to advance to mount but can't. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Ammond is looking to take a break and control but Gervais is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Gervais is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Gervais struggling a bit here. Ammond goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Gervais has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Ammond but great work by Gervais. Gervais creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Ammond sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike. Ammond is trying to get back to half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ammond keeps trying to improve his position. Gervais happy to just control the position for now. Ammond manages to get one leg in to regain half guard. Gervais is trying to control. Ammond wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Gervais looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. Ammond wants to control but Gervais is keeping busy and won't allow it. Gervais is controlling the pace.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Gervais is trying to control the action in half guard but Ammond is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Gervais wants to free his trapped foot but Ammond is holding on for dear life with his legs. Ammond has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Ammond is looking to control Gervais's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Ammond avoid being mounted? Ammond wants to improve his position but Gervais is controlling well.

That was a close second round but I would say that Samuel Gervais will probably get the nod. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Gervais would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Ammond wants to sweep but no luck. Gervais stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Ammond swivels though and keeps the full guard. Gervais is working hard here to advance position. Ammond is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. A close third round but Wale Ammond just about did enough to take it. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Gervais feints a jab promting Ammond to slip. Gervais then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Ammond slips again and ducks right into an uppercut. Nice takedown defense from Gervais. No joy for Ammond on that attempt. Ammond has his takedown stuffed enabling Gervais to counter with a crisp jab. Gervais drops Ammond with a beautiful combination! Ammond stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Gervais is looking for the KO!
Ammond is rocked!
It looks like Wale Ammond has been cut. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Ammond walks right into a perfectly timed right hook and goes down hard! He's out cold! The ref cradles Ammond limp body while Gervais jumps on to the cage and waves to the roaring crowd. Wow that was just a brutal knockout!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:30 of round 4, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Samuel Gervais! Samuel Gervais is the new lightweight champion! Jumping up and down and very excited, Samuel Gervais waved his t-shirt featuring Fanatic ($125)'s logo in front of the cameras. In defeat, Wale Ammond stepped up to the mic, saying 'Credit be to Allah. Pit Bull Development sells the best prodcucts! I am ready to go a few more rounds.'.
