Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Lucifer Morningstar! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
11 - 9 - 1, fighting out of London, Ryan McCarthy! The judges for this bout are John Roberts, Jorge Garcia and Anthony Taglia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Decent striking displayed by McCarthy there.
It looks like Lucifer Morningstar has been cut. Morningstar throws a right hand that misses
and McCarthy counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Sloppy strikes from Morningstar. Those never looked like landing. McCarthy drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Morningstar defends it well. McCarthy shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than McCarthy was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! McCarthy is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Morningstar's shoulder. That is not cool. McCarthy working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. That's one minute gone in the round. McCarthy tries for a kimura but Morningstar is defending well. McCarthy goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Morningstar has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for McCarthy but great work by Morningstar. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. McCarthy is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Morningstar's leg. He's managed it. Nice work. Morningstar stalling away here and it's allowed McCarthy to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard. Morningstar has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing McCarthy to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Morningstar is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - McCarthy pulls down on the head and he's put Morningstar to sleep! This one is all over!
