Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Matt Johnson (ranked 23888 p4p, 0 weight class) and DJ Shaw (ranked 5694 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Matt Johnson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, DJ Shaw! The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Robert Twigg and Gwen Towbar.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Shaw jabs at Johnson's body. Shaw paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button. Horrible takedown attempt by Johnson or perhaps it was just good defense by Shaw, which made it look bad. Johnson takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Shaw pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way. As Shaw tries to get set, Johnson tries to push him back and clinch up but Shaw manages to avoid the attempt. Shaw throws a head kick but Johnson moves out of range.
DJ Shaw seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Shaw looks to throw a body kick and Johnson counters with a shoot takedown. Shaw fights it but they end up in guard. Shaw is looking to stand up but Johnson isn't so interested in that idea. Shaw is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Johnson knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Shaw on the ground. Johnson looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
That's one minute gone in the round. Johnson prevents Shaw from getting back to his feet. Johnson postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Shaw looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Shaw thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage. Shaw trying to strike off his back.
Shaw trying to keep a closed guard but Johnson is proving a slippery customer.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Shaw is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Shaw tries to strike from the bottom.
Shaw looking for subs off his back but Johnson has passed one foot through into half guard.
Johnson looks to score some points with some ground and pound. Shaw keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Johnson lands with a punch from half guard. Shaw works his way to full guard. Good work. Johnson is standing up over Shaw. Shaw looks to escape but Johnson dives into side control.
Shaw looks winded! Johnson lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Shaw down.
Johnson scores with punches from side control. Johnson will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Shaw sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard. Johnson lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. Johnson winds up and cracks Shaw with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Johnson throwing shots but Shaw is blocking nicely. Johnson stands up out of the half guard. Johnson checks a leg kick. Johnson dives in and grabs Shaw's left leg, looking for a takedown. Shaw pushes down on Johnson's head and hops out. Shaw throws a sloppy head kick and Johnson moves out of range easily. Excellent takedown into side control there by Shaw. Johnson sneaks out the side door and pushes Shaw away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Johnson feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Johnson prevents Shaw from getting back to his feet. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Matt Johnson dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Excellent takedown into side control there by Johnson. Shaw throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done! Shaw misses with a jab, cross combination.
Johnson closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Shaw did well to prevent Johnson getting side control. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Shaw gets back to full guard.
Shaw throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Johnson trying to control the position from guard on top but Shaw is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Shaw has his hands on Johnson's head, controlling the position. Shaw is breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Johnson is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. Shaw wants to stand and escape but Johnson is having none of it. Johnson chips away with some ground and pound. Johnson throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Shaw works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Shaw is looking to stand up but Johnson isn't so interested in that idea.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Shaw looks to clinch and Johnson counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Shaw clinches up with Johnson and pushes him back against the cage. Johnson fails to pull guard.
Johnson is looking for a takedown. Johnson just leaning against Shaw, taking a breather. Johnson pulls Shaw into guard.
Johnson pushes Shaw off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there. Johnson shoots and misses and Shaw counters with a three punch combo that has Johnson backing up. Johnson nods at Shaw to acknowledge the strikes. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Matt Johnson. That's going to take a lot out of him. Shaw throws a nice head kick!
Johnson fails with the takedown. Johnson misses with a takedown letting Shaw counter with a right hand.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Shaw displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Johnson. A good leg kick by Shaw. A momentary lapse in concentration from Shaw enables Johnson to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Shaw manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. Shaw is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Shaw stands up and beckons Johnson to join him on the feet.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Shaw throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Johnson tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Shaw is in Johnson's guard. Johnson has a closed guard, preventing Shaw from standing up. Shaw sitting in guard here, content to control. Johnson has his feet on Shaw's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Shaw is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Johnson's half guard. Johnson wants to get back to his feet.

DJ Shaw showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!
Shaw lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Shaw throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Johnson fails with a takedown attempt. Shaw feints the counter takedown. Shaw throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Johnson shoots in for a takedown but Shaw shows good takedown defense. Shaw lands a two punch combo.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Johnson shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Shaw sprawls well. Shaw wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Johnson gets slowly back to his feet. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Matt Johnson. That's going to take a lot out of him. The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Johnson fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Shaw, pushing him back against the cage. This has been an exciting period of action! Johnson tries to pull guard but Shaw forces him back to his feet, against the cage. Shaw pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Johnson ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent. Johnson changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Shaw tries to avoid it but Johnson manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Shaw to the ground. Shaw escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Johnson misses with a takedown attempt and Shaw counters with a two punch combo. Shaw looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Johnson! Johnson sneaks out the side door and pushes Shaw away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Shaw throws a combination. Johnson tries to block but a couple of punches get through. Shaw darts in trying to clinch and Johnson counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Johnson lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Johnson postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. Shaw working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Johnson has passed into half guard!

And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to DJ Shaw. I think Shaw has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
