PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Adam Birchall (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ikki de (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Birchall comes to the cage accompanied by Indie Rock n Roll for me. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Adam Birchall! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Birchall looks for the body kick but de saw that one coming. Birchall tries to clinch but de moves out of range. de shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Birchall pinned against the cage. Birchall gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Birchall will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Birchall with a lazy takedown attempt and de counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Birchall! de trying to control but Birchall is having none of it. de looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet. de tries to control but Birchall wriggling away. de avoids the attempt from Birchall to control.
That's one minute gone in the round. de jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Birchall manages to avoid the submission attempt. de working the body and head with strikes. Birchall is being controlled here. Birchall can't do much from the bottom here. de wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Birchall, who protects the arm well. Birchall tries to get back to half guard but can't. Check out the look on de's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Birchall wants to control but de postures up. Birchall tries to buck de off but de is having none of it. de remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while. You can see the frustration on Birchall's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Birchall is looking for a sweep. Birchall is not content to let de control the position. de thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. de looks gassed!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Birchall prevents de from moving into mount. Birchall wants to control but de postures up. Birchall is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because de is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. de in side control, working for a kimura. He's got hold of an arm and he's torquing it... Birchall is tapping! That's the end of the fight!
