Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between DJ Apollo (ranked 327 p4p, 41 weight class) and Nik Snow (ranked 473 p4p, 59 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, DJ Apollo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 2 - 1, fighting out of New York, Nik Snow!
The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, James Atkins and Daniel Bishop.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Apollo changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Apollo has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Snow keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Apollo shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Snow is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Apollo is aware though and is defending well.
Apollo looking to sit in guard and control but Snow gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Snow is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Apollo is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Apollo has escaped and now he's on top!

Snow working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Apollo doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Apollo manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Apollo looking to sit in guard and control but Snow gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Apollo wants to sweep but no luck.
Snow controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Apollo keeping moving, preventing Snow from controlling successfully.
Apollo bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Snow's guard.


Apollo got a little sloppy there for a moment and Snow has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Apollo has managed to get both his arms back between Snow's legs - danger averted.

Snow has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Apollo can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Snow wants to get back to full guard.

Apollo looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Snow with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Apollo lands a nice short elbow.

Apollo is looking to take a break and control but Snow is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Snow is looking to control Apollo's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Snow avoid being mounted?

Snow felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
Snow scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Apollo manages to mount him!
Apollo can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Snow is looking to escape.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
You get the feeling that Snow really doesn't like being in this position too much.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

DJ Apollo dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Apollo misses with the combination.
A little jabbing left from Snow on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.

Apollo dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Snow. That did some damage!
Apollo takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Snow tries to work over Apollo's front leg with a kick but Apollo checks it.
Nice defenses there by Apollo.
Apollo shoots in but Snow avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Snow attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
Snow throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Apollo uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Snow.
Apollo lands a nice shot to the body.
Apollo lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Snow waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Apollo.
Apollo dives in and grabs Snow's left leg, looking for a takedown. Snow pushes down on Apollo's head and hops out.
Apollo looks to score with a jab to the body but Snow is just out of range.

Snow goes for a high kick. It partially lands.


It looks like DJ Apollo has been cut.
Snow lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.

Apollo is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Snow can do to turn this around?

Snow had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Apollo defends it easily.

Apollo has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Apollo postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Snow is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Apollo, into his guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Apollo is pulling down on Snow's head to control his posture.
Snow passes Apollo's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Apollo has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Snow is working away from the top position though.

Apollo wants to sweep here but Snow controlling him for the moment.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Snow tries to free his leg and advance position but Apollo is retaining full guard.

Snow thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Apollo manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Snow manages to get himself to full guard.

Apollo is working Snow over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that DJ Apollo will probably get the nod.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!


Apollo moves out of range of the strikes.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Apollo checks a leg kick.
Sloppy strikes from Snow. Those never looked like landing.

Snow keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Snow throws a leg kick but Apollo moved away.
Snow throws out a leg kick but Apollo moves out of range and Snow only half commits.
Snow is looking to land body kicks.
Apollo goes for a double leg but Snow avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Snow continues to drive forward.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Snow! But no joy.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Apollo, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
