PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Brownie Anderson (ranked 174 p4p, 21 weight class) and Toshiro Montero (ranked 1613 p4p, 193 weight class). Anderson kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is !!!. Montero has chosen Danzig - Mother as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 26 - 11 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Brownie Anderson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 27 - 13 - 0, fighting out of New York, Toshiro Montero!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Yves DeLean and Elvis Blanc.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Montero is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Anderson.
Anderson uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Montero.
Anderson throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Montero wants to land a leg kick but Anderson is out of range.
Montero closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Anderson leaves Montero with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
A low kick from Montero misses
and Anderson counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Anderson closes the distance and pushes Montero back into the cage.

Montero breaks the clinch.
Anderson takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Montero throws a leg kick but Anderson moved away.
Anderson lands the left hand.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
A punch combination from Anderson misses.
Montero throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Anderson tries to clinch there but Montero circles away.
Anderson bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.

That's one minute gone in the round.
A nice inside leg kick there by Anderson. That's going to slow Montero down.
Montero throws a jab when Anderson was well out of range.

Anderson closes the distance and clinches.
Anderson presses Montero against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Montero has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Montero is trying to drag Anderson to the mat but Anderson just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Montero is pushing Anderson up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
Anderson is leaning against Montero and scores with a nice uppercut to the body.

Montero stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
With the two fighters working up against the cage, Anderson just misses with a elbow thrown towards Montero's brow.

Anderson manages to break the clinch.
Anderson moves away from the strike by Montero.
Montero throws a lazy uppercut
and Anderson counters with a left and a right that stings Montero.
Anderson throws a right hand that Montero ducks under and follows up with a left that Montero also avoids with ease.
Montero throws a low kick, looking for Anderson's leg but Anderson calmly moves out of range.
Montero throws the left hand but Anderson avoids the punch easily.
Good leg kick by Anderson there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Anderson clinches with his opponent.
Anderson stalling.
Montero tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Montero throws a head punch that misses.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Montero.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Montero is looking to break free of the clinch but Anderson has double underhooks.

Montero's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Montero feints and then cracks Anderson's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Anderson down.

Montero looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Anderson!
Anderson is pushing Montero's head away, looking to escape. Montero manages to hold on to the position though.
Anderson keeps Montero under control for a moment.

Montero is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Anderson has escaped the position, nice work there.

Anderson bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet!
Anderson lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Montero avoids a kick to the body.
Anderson blocks a jab.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Anderson escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Anderson will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Montero motions for Anderson to come forward. Montero throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
A little feinted left hand from Anderson on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Anderson misses with the combination.
Montero misses with a looping right.

Anderson moves into the clinch.

Anderson breaks the clinch.
Anderson doesn't manage to clinch there - Montero circles away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Brownie Anderson dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Montero misses with a low kick.
Montero throws a poor cross that misses

and Anderson counters into the clinch. Nicely done.

Anderson has hold of one of Montero's legs. Montero is fighting the takedown attempt but Anderson gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.

Montero wants to reverse the position here. Anderson has hold of a leg though and he's dropped back looking for a kneebar! The fighters roll across the mat but Montero is forced to tap! Montero looks devastated but at least his leg points in the right direction.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:34 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kneebar). Brownie Anderson!
A relieved looking Brownie Anderson thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
