Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Desmond Flannery (ranked 3727 p4p, 337 weight class) and Jer Bear (ranked 3049 p4p, 289 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Flannery might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Dropkick Murphys - I'm Shipping Up To Boston. Bear is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Good Times. Both fighter's entrance songs getting the crowd jumping here.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
23 - 18 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Desmond Flannery! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
24 - 31 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jer Bear! The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Trevor Gratis and Ian Loll.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Flannery misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Bear gets caught flat footed, as Flannery shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Bear has his feet on Flannery's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work. Flannery changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Bear tries to avoid it but Flannery manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Bear to the ground. Bear escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Bear tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away. Flannery slips a jab and a cross from Bear.
Flannery tries to counter with a takedown but Bear is quick to defend against it. Flannery shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Flannery showed some decent athleticism there. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Bear avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Flannery. Bear trying to control from the bottom.
Bear wants to improve his position but Flannery is controlling well.

That's one minute gone in the round. Flannery wants to control from the top but Bear keeps moving. Flannery scoring with punches to the head and body. Bear not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Bear escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Flannery gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
That's three minutes gone in the round. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Flannery throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Bear works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Bear trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from! Flannery throws a big right hand that misses. Bear pulls Flannery in close to prevent any damage. Flannery has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Bear's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige. Flannery is looking to work some ground and pound but Bear has wrist control. Flannery loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Bear is in close to Flannery's body, working some short punches and elbows. Bear with a flurry of punches that miss. Bear stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Flannery swivels though and keeps the full guard. Bear decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Flannery, up you get! Flannery shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Flannery showed some decent athleticism there. Bear is trying to get back to full guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Desmond Flannery will probably get the nod. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Bear shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Bear wants to stand but Flannery has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Bear is looking to work some ground and pound but Flannery has wrist control. Bear wants to pass the guard but Flannery is keeping the position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Bear wants to control from the top but Flannery keeps moving. Bear looking to sit in guard and control but Flannery gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
That's one minute gone in the round. Flannery passes into half guard. Flannery lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. Flannery is keen to just control but Bear is a slippery customer. Flannery thows a huge punch but Bear dodges it nicely.
Flannery seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Bear does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Flannery slips a nice elbow through Bear's hands, connecting with Bear's forehead.
It looks like Jer Bear has been cut. Bear keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Flannery working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Bear is looking to control Flannery's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Bear avoid being mounted? Flannery is nestled in close to Bear, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Bear tries to get to full guard but Flannery has control of the leg. Flannery is figuring out what he wants to do next. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Flannery landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
That has opened up Jer Bear's cut even more. Bear blocking the ground and pound attempt from Flannery. Flannery tries to pass the half guard into mount. Bear knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Flannery is trying to control. Bear wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Flannery missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Flannery slips a nice elbow through Bear's hands, connecting with Bear's forehead. Flannery thows a huge punch but Bear dodges it nicely.
Bear is controlling Flannery's trapped leg to prevent Flannery from advancing to side control. Flannery missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Flannery connects with a nice short shot to Bear's temple.
Bear is rocked!
The cut above Jer Bear's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
The referee calls the doctor in to look at Jer Bear's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
