Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Efrain Knight! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Death Shade! The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Shirou Masuda and Ren Mimura.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Shade shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Knight pushes Shade off and gets back to his feet. Shade shoots in and bounces Knight off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Knight manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Shade stalling in the clinch but Knight improves position. Knight tries a body shot but Shade blocks it.

Shade closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Knight tries to get to full guard but Shade has control of the leg. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Knight is positioning himself well to prevent Shade advancing to mount.
That's one minute gone in the round. Shade wants to take a breather but Knight is having none of it. Shade throwing shots but Knight is blocking nicely. The fighters are battling for position here. Knight manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Knight working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Shade doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Shade manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Shade working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Shade wants to stand but Knight has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Knight keeping moving, preventing Shade from controlling successfully. Knight is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Knight throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Shade has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Knight is working away from the top position though. Knight sitting and controlling from the half guard. Shade trying to keep hold of his opponent's head but Knight manages to pass to mount!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Shade can't escape the position.
Shade is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Shade in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head. Shade is trying to escape the mount.
Knight scoring with strikes but Shade is staying in there.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Shade tries to lock up and control but Knight gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Shade tries to reverse the position but Knight maintains control. Shade wants to hold on but Knight pushes him away. Knight sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Shade tries to reverse the position but Knight maintains control. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Shade jumps guard and drags Knight to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back. Shade working a defensive guard but Knight manages to pass into side control anyway.
Knight wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Shade, who protects the arm well. Shade is working to avoid the ground and pound but Knight connects with a decent elbow. Efrain Knight overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Shade regains half guard.

Shade tries to buck Knight off but he can't manage it. Knight scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Shade?

Knight lands a nice shot to the head. Shade wants to control but Knight is having none of it. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Shade is looking to get to half guard. Shade is breathing heavily.
