Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Scotty Taylor! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Bjorn Ironside! The judges for this bout are Ryoma Takatsuka, Paul Gruel and Josh West.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Taylor pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Ironside uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook. Ironside connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt. Taylor throws a body kick that misses. Taylor pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Ironside's corner calls for a 1-2. Ironside obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
It looks like Scotty Taylor has been cut. Bjorn Ironside seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Ironside lands with a right hand. Ironside tests Taylor's chin there with a solid looking shot. Ironside connects with a single shot there. Taylor is looking to clinch. Taylor takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Nice jab there from Ironside. Taylor takes one on the chin but keeps coming.

It seemed like Ironside was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ironside is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot. Ironside lands a jab to Taylor's midsection. Ironside keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. A decent looking cross lands there for Ironside. Ironside lands a jab. Taylor tries to clinch up but Ironside circles away and keeps his distance. Ironside fakes a head shot and lands one to the body. Ironside scores with a jab to the head.
Excellent takedown into side control there by Taylor. Ironside tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Taylor is standing up out of mount! Strange tactic there - he must really want this one on the feet! Taylor shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Ironside's guard. Taylor stays in close to Ironside's body and controls the position. Ironside keeping full guard, as Taylor tries to pass. Taylor decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Ironside, up you get! Ironside throws out a powerful jab. Taylor dives in for a single leg takedown but Ironside sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. Taylor takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Ironside is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Taylor had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ironside clobbers Taylor with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise. Jab, jab by Ironside - just one landing. Taylor really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Taylor misses the body punch and Ironside counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Ironside with a hook. Ironside lands a really nice looking cross but Taylor seems unphased.
Taylor moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross. Ironside fakes a head shot and lands one to the body. Ironside lands with a good body shot. Ironside jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Taylor darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Taylor not doing much here.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Taylor thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Bjorn Ironside dominated that round. The cut man is working on Scotty Taylor's cut. That's time! Taylor's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Taylor shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Taylor is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Ironside is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Ironside avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Scotty Taylor overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Taylor forces his way into half guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Taylor moves nicely into side control. Taylor misses with the ground and pound.
That's one minute gone in the round. Taylor misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Ironside is looking for a sweep. You can see the frustration on Ironside's face as Taylor controls the position. You can see the frustration on Ironside's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Taylor postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
A lull in the action here as Taylor stalls from top position. The strikes coming from Taylor are missing the target in this wave of attacks. Taylor has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Taylor in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time. You can see the frustration on Ironside's face as Taylor controls the position. Taylor decides to stand back up. Ironside fakes a head shot and lands one to the body. A jab from Ironside does it's job there. Ironside connects with a crisp jab. Taylor looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that. A lazy left from Ironside finds it's target. Taylor tries to close the distance and clinch but Ironside swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Taylor decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Ironside has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Taylor seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. Taylor thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Taylor is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount! Taylor sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Taylor misses with a head shot. Ironside is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Taylor throwing shots from mount but they're not landing. Taylor tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Ironside really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Ironside really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Taylor. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. A nice elbow there by Taylor. Taylor with the ground and pound from mount.
It looks like Bjorn Ironside has been cut. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Taylor thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage. Taylor controlling the pace for now. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Scotty Taylor dominated that second round. Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!
Taylor throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Ironside was covering up waiting for the punch and Taylor finishes the takedown easily into guard. Ironside wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Taylor manages to pass to side control. Taylor slows the pace down in half guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Ironside wants to control but Taylor passes into side.
That's one minute gone in the round. Taylor wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Ironside, who protects the arm well. Taylor has hold of Ironside's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Ironside seems comfortable defending it but Taylor has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Ironside is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Ironside is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Taylor couldn't care less - he's delighted!
