Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Fredrick Mays!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Calvin Jacobsen!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, Donald Grub and Richard Clark.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jacobsen swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Mays counters into the clinch. Nicely done.

Mays breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Danga de danga de dang - Jacobsen scores with a four punch combination!

Mays takes the fight into the clinch.
Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Mays.
Jacobsen wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Mays has him pressed against the cage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mays fails to pull the fight into his guard.

The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.

Mays tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Mays avoiding damage.

Mays's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Mays could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Mays tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Mays shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Mays was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Jacobsen wants to control but Mays postures up.
Jacobsen is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Mays's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

Mays looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Jacobsen is trying to control but can't.

Mays seems to be working for a kimura but Jacobsen defends the submission attempt.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Jacobsen throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Jacobsen lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.


It looks like Fredrick Mays has been cut.

Mays closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Mays is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.

Mays turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!

Mays wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Jacobsen, who protects the arm well.
Jacobsen is looking for a sweep.

Mays throws an elbow but Jacobsen slips to the side and avoids it well.
Jacobsen wants to control but Mays postures up.
Jacobsen might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Mays haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Jacobsen is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

Mays is thwarting Jacobsen's attempts to control the position.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Mays breaks from the clinch.
Jacobsen fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Mays is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Jacobsen can do to turn this around?

That was a close second round but I would say that Fredrick Mays will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Fredrick Mays's cut.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.



Mays decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Jacobsen tries to kick Mays off but Mays keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Jacobsen is trying to maintain the position but Mays is very close to passing his half guard.

Mays is working for a kimura but Jacobsen is defending it quite comfortably.
Jacobsen wants to control but Mays is keeping busy and won't allow it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Jacobsen is trying to maintain the position but Mays is very close to passing his half guard.
Jacobsen is trying to avoid being dragged into an even worse position than he's already in but Mays is staying active.
Jacobsen is looking for a sweep. Mays is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Mays wants to work for an arm triangle but Jacobsen is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

and Mays holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Mays breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Fredrick Mays is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Jacobsen pushes Mays up against the cage in a clinch.
Mays looking to throw knees to the head but Jacobsen is blocking nicely.
Mays jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Jacobsen walks away with a smile on his face. Mays gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Jacobsen lands a jab to Mays's midsection.
Mays's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Jacobsen connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Mays scrambles back to his feet.

Calvin Jacobsen has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Fredrick Mays is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Jacobsen misses with a two punch combination.
Mays appears to be looking for a big counter.

Fredrick Mays showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Mays, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
