Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Simon Belmont! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Alex Jemaliejnko! The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Seu Braga and Edson Gomes.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jemaliejnko closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Jemaliejnko lands in his opponent's guard. Jemaliejnko trying to control the position from guard on top but Belmont is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Jemaliejnko should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete. Belmont working for a triangle but Jemaliejnko defends it easily.
Jemaliejnko wants to control from the top but Belmont keeps moving. Belmont has a closed guard, preventing Jemaliejnko from standing up. Belmont controlling Jemaliejnko's posture. Belmont had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Jemaliejnko is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Belmont Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Jemaliejnko's back instead.

Jemaliejnko is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Belmont is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Jemaliejnko knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Jemaliejnko for a finish. Jemaliejnko trying to control the hands but Belmont won't let him. Belmont has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Jemaliejnko has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
Belmont is breathing heavily. Belmont doesn't have the hooks in and Jemaliejnko manages to turn into his guard.

Jemaliejnko is working Belmont over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Nice work there by Belmont. Belmont slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Belmont drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Jemaliejnko dives on top into guard. Belmont looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Jemaliejnko has picked Belmont up and slammed him! Belmont can't keep hold of the triangle and Jemaliejnko manages to pass to side control! Jemaliejnko decides to stand back up.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Jemaliejnko looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Belmont! Belmont tries to lock up and control but Jemaliejnko gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. BOOM! Jemaliejnko connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Belmont wants to hold on but Jemaliejnko pushes him away. Jemaliejnko tries to control but Belmont wriggling away. Jemaliejnko avoids the attempt from Belmont to control. Belmont is looking to improve his position but Jemaliejnko isn't that keen on the idea. Jemaliejnko has control of Belmont's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Belmont regains control of the situation pretty easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Alex Jemaliejnko showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

He'll be looking to tighten that up but Jemaliejnko can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Jemaliejnko has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Belmont is proving hard to escape from. Belmont is not content to let Jemaliejnko control the position. Belmont is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Jemaliejnko decides to stand back up.

Belmont is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Belmont is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Jemaliejnko is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Jemaliejnko has escaped and now he's on top! Belmont is trying to keep Jemaliejnko in close.

Good agility. Jemaliejnko wants to stand up but Belmont is controlling him. Belmont is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Simon Belmont has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! This has been an exciting period of action! Belmont is looking to work some ground and pound but Jemaliejnko has wrist control.
And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to Alex Jemaliejnko. Well Jemaliejnko has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
