Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 1, fighting out of The Island, Jose Diaz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Fighty McFighterson!
The judges for this bout are Santiago Holmes, Sandra Marshall and Dirk Anderson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Diaz connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between McFighterson's hands.
McFighterson keeps the fight on the outside.

Diaz rushes McFighterson and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Diaz's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.

McFighterson is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Diaz can't fight it off and eventually McFighterson manages to take the fight to the floor. Diaz looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Diaz has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage.
McFighterson is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
McFighterson looking to pass the guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
McFighterson working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Diaz's head.
McFighterson passes Diaz's left leg - he's now in half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
McFighterson is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Diaz is looking to control McFighterson's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Diaz avoid being mounted?
McFighterson wants to take a breather but Diaz is having none of it.
Diaz preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head.
Diaz wants to control but McFighterson is keeping busy and won't allow it.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
McFighterson is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Diaz wants to improve his position but McFighterson is controlling well.
McFighterson throwing shots but Diaz is blocking nicely.
McFighterson wants to control but Diaz is keeping him busy.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Diaz actively working from the bottom here.
McFighterson thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Diaz's head.
McFighterson is trying to control the action in half guard but Diaz is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Diaz moves into range and connects with a jab.
Jose Diaz is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

McFighterson manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Diaz on his heels. He'll look to pass Diaz's guard now, I'm sure.
McFighterson content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
McFighterson throws a big elbow that misses.

Diaz has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. McFighterson doesn't defend quickly enough and Diaz has managed to lock this one up! Can McFighterson escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Diaz on a fantastic submission victory.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:27 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Jose Diaz!
A very excited looking Jose Diaz made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
