Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jason Michaels! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Hank Trill! The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, William Peck and Ian Loll.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Trill shoots in but Michaels avoids the takedown attempt easily. Michaels looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this! Trill takes a swing at Michaels's ribcage but misses. Michaels avoids the head kick by Trill.
Trill wants to clinch. Trill shoots in and bounces Michaels off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Trill trying to control but Michaels is working from the bottom. Trill passes into half guard. Trill seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Michaels does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Trill is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Michaels has managed to free his arm - good work. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Trill is looking for a kimura but Michaels is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Trill to get the leverage. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Michaels is trying to control but can't.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Trill wants to control but Michaels is keeping him busy. Michaels trying to control from the bottom.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Trill tries to clinch up. Trill tries to close the distance and clinch but Michaels swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Trill closes the distance and clinches up with Michaels, looking for a takedown. Trill pushes Michaels against the cage but Michaels circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Trill takes the fight into the clinch. Trill's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Trill shoots in for a takedown but Michaels shows good takedown defense. Jason Michaels has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Hank Trill. Nice takedown defense from Michaels. No joy for Trill on that attempt. Trill shoots in but Michaels avoids the takedown attempt easily. Michaels swats away the attempt to clinch by Trill. Trill tries to clinch but Michaels is having none of it.

Hank Trill seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Michaels fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Trill takes the fight into the clinch. Trill pulls guard successfully.

Trill circles away from the clinch attempt and Trill counters into the clinch. Nicely done. Trill ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Trill no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard. Trill manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Michaels manages to get himself to full guard.
Trill is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Michaels throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.

Michaels wants to stand but Trill is controlling the position. Trill forces his way into half guard. Trill is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Michaels! Trill working for a guillotine from mount but Michaels is in no mood to give up. Michaels is working to get back to half guard.
Michaels is in a horrible position here. Trill smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Trill looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet. Michaels tries to hold on but Trill pushes him away. Trill is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Michaels has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Michaels! Michaels trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Trill looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Michaels trying to pass the guard but Trill defending well. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. The fighters are battling for position here. Trill manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Hank Trill showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!
Trill tries to clinch but Michaels moves away and Michaels counters with a takedown into side control. Trill is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Michaels off and has taken his back! Trill is persistently looking for the submission but Michaels is defending it well.

Hank Trill has got the better of the ground game so far. Michaels defends a rear naked choke attempt by controlling one of Trill's arms. Michaels fending off the submission attempt from Trill. Michaels turns into Trill and is now in his guard.

Trill escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Michaels gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Trill throwing strikes off his back to little effect.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Trill is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Michaels tries to free his leg and advance position but Trill is retaining full guard.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Michaels lands a two punch combo.
Michaels throws a looping overhand right but Trill ducks down to avoid it. Trill moves into range and clinches up with Michaels. Michaels wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Trill pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Trill moves in looking to clinch but Michaels pushes him off. Trill is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Michaels throws a head kick that misses. Michaels shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Trill pinned against the cage. Trill gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Michaels is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Trill is keeping busy. A shot in the inside from Trill. Michaels jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Trill walks away with a smile on his face. Michaels gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Trill tries to clinch but Michaels moves out of range. Trill pushes Michaels up against the cage in a clinch. Trill breaks from the clinch.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Michaels throwing strikes but missing, from side control. Michaels decides to take the fight back to the feet. Trill is looking to clinch but Michaels is avoiding it.
Trill keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jason Michaels. That's going to take a lot out of him. Trill moves into the clinch. A head punch blocked on the inside by Michaels. Michaels breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Trill shoots in but Michaels avoids the takedown attempt easily. Michaels misses with a takedown and Trill counters by clinching up. Jason Michaels has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Hank Trill is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Trill tries to land a knee to the head but Michaels blocks with his arms.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Jason Michaels. I think Trill has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
