Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
9 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Arsteen Berghen! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Paul Walker! The judges for this bout are Illya Tyunina, Fedor Mirinova and Vladimir Khabensky.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Berghen moves away from the strike by Walker. Walker throws a shot from downtown. Berghen moves away and avoids it. Walker lands the left hand. Berghen connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head. Berghen dodges the punch combination from Walker.
Berghen thows a left - swing and a miss! Berghen shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Walker napping and manages to drive through into side control! The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Walker wants to control but Berghen postures up. Walker takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head. Walker is not content to let Berghen control the position. Walker is positioning himself to get back to half guard. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Berghen lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Walker down.
That's one minute gone in the round. Berghen wants to lay and pray for a moment but Walker keeps working. Walker struggling a bit here. Walker is looking for a sweep. Walker is not content to let Berghen control the position. Berghen tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Berghen has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Walker struggling a bit here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. The strikes coming from Berghen are missing the target in this wave of attacks. Berghen is putting a hurting on Walker here, landing some big shots from side control. Walker tries to get back to half guard but can't. Walker seems a little lost for a moment, as Berghen dominates the positioning. Berghen scoring with punches and elbows. Walker is looking for a sweep. Berghen is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Walker is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Walker is trying to improve his position. Berghen scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Walker to see if he's OK. Berghen grinds an elbow into Walker's temple.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Berghen tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Berghen has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! You can see the frustration on Walker's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Berghen is chipping away with strikes.
Walker gets back to half guard. Walker wants to improve his position but Berghen is controlling well.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Berghen connects with a nice short shot to Walker's temple.
Walker is rocked! Berghen slips a nice elbow through Walker's hands, connecting with Walker's forehead. Walker is still in real trouble! Can Berghen finish him? The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Berghen lands a nice short elbow. Berghen definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. Walker looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Berghen creates some space for himself and unloads with a monster right hand! That one landed with a sickening thud - Walker is out cold and this one is all over! Berghen climbs onto the cage to celebrate with his corner!! He's shouting something into the camera but he's still got his mouthpiece in so God knows what he's actually saying.
