Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Philip Morgan (ranked 25344 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Morton (ranked 5782 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Philip Morgan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, John Morton!
The judges for this bout are Phil Schofield, Chris Edwards and Andrew Berry.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Morton throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Morgan was covering up waiting for the punch and Morton finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Morgan has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Morton can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Morton is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Morton stands and throws Morgan's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Morton goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Morgan rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Morton's guard! Nice work there by Morgan!

Morton is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.

Morgan got a little sloppy there for a moment and Morton has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Morgan has managed to get both his arms back between Morton's legs - danger averted.

Morgan has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Morton has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Morgan off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Morton shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Morgan looks like he's trying to stand up.
Morgan is in trouble now - Morton has advanced to mount!
Morgan wants to hold on but Morton pushes him away.

Morton avoids the attempt from Morgan to control.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Morton goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Morgan is on top in guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



Morton looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Morgan!
Morgan tries to buck Morton off but Morton is having none of it.
Morton happy to just control the position for now.
Morgan wants to control but Morton postures up.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Morgan is trying to improve his position.

Morton is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Morgan knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Morgan seems a little lost for a moment, as Morton dominates the positioning.

Morton has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Morgan!
Morton tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Morton throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Morgan is working to get back to half guard.

Morton has hold of Morgan's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Morgan manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Morton takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Morgan is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Morton tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Morton jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Morgan is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Morgan and Morton has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Morton throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and Morgan works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure.

Morgan wants to control but Morton is keeping busy.

Morton seems to be working for a kimura but Morgan defends the submission attempt.

Morton is trying to work for a kimura but Morgan is defending well.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Morton feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Morton is standing up over Morgan. Morgan looks to escape but Morton dives into side control.

Morton in side control, throwing shots but Morgan defends.

Morton tries for a kimura but Morgan is defending well.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Morton stands up and beckons Morgan to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

John Morton showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!



Morton bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Morton just content to control the position.
An elbow from Morton crashes against the mat.
Morton happy to just control the position for now.

Morton decides to take the fight back to the feet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Morton throws a nice looking combination but Morgan bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Morton closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Morton lands in his opponent's guard.
Morton passes Morgan's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Morton wants to take a breather but Morgan is having none of it.
Morgan blocking the ground and pound attempt from Morton.
Morgan is looking to escape.
Morgan is looking to improve his position.
Morton wants to pass to mount but Morgan is defending the position.

Morton frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Morgan is working to get back to half guard.
Morton tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Morton trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Morgan wants to control but Morton is having none of it.

Morton unloads with some shots from mount but Morgan bucks and avoids them well.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Morgan wants to try and get back to his feet.

Morton is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Morgan to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Morgan shrugs it off.

Morton is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Morgan has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Morgan!

Morton had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Morgan defends it easily.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Morton wants to sweep here but Morgan controlling him for the moment.

And that's the end of the fight!
John Morton comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Morton has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
