Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Marcio Alvarez (ranked 3032 p4p, 324 weight class) and Max Paddy (ranked 2623 p4p, 0 weight class). Alvarez comes to the cage accompanied by Made in Brazil. Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Paddy misses with an uppercut. Alvarez saw that one coming.
Paddy takes a swing at Alvarez's ribcage but misses.
Alvarez feinted with a counter takedown.
Paddy throws out a loose jab but Alvarez uses good head movement to avoid it.

and Alvarez counters with a leg kick.
Paddy misses with a combination
and Alvarez counters with a nice double leg into side control. Paddy won't be happy with that.
Alvarez tries to advance to mount but Paddy denies him.

We've been hearing that Alvarez has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.

Alvarez has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Paddy tries to buck Alvarez off but Alvarez is having none of it.
Alvarez looks up at the clock and then as Paddy takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Alvarez smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

The referee warns Paddy that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Alvarez lands a big shot there that rocks Paddy but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
