Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Zackary Kemp! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Ugh Lee! The judges for this bout are Vladimir Khabensky, Aleksandr Martynov and Valeri Chadov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Lee keeps the fight on the outside. Lee shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Kemp is trying to defend but Lee finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Kemp slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Kemp is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage. Lee is looking to work some ground and pound but Kemp has wrist control. Lee landing some decent shots from guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Lee throws an elbow that misses. Kemp uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Lee's guard. Nice move by Kemp!
Lee really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Kemp. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Kemp throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kemp throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Kemp with a flurry of punches that miss. Kemp throwing strikes from guard but Lee blocks nicely. Kemp throws a big right hand that misses. Lee is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Kemp lands a couple of digs. Lee wants to sweep here but Kemp controlling him for the moment.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Lee avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Kemp throwing strikes from guard but Lee blocks nicely. Lee looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Kemp puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard. Lee wants to sweep but Kemp has passed to side control! Kemp decides to take the fight back to the feet. Lee avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Lee gets the takedown into side control. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kemp struggling a bit here. Lee lands a nice forearm strike. Kemp dodges the ground and pound from Lee. Lee controls the position from side control. Lee swings around for an armbar but Kemp sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Lee's guard. Kemp is looking to work some ground and pound but Lee has wrist control. Kemp loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Lee is looking to sweep but instead, Kemp has passed into half guard.
Lee keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Lee is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Kemp prevents Lee from improving his position. Kemp trying to control the pace. Kemp missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Kemp wants to take a breather but Lee is having none of it. Kemp has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Kemp sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Lee defending well though. Kemp throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Zackary Kemp dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Kemp is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Lee looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Lee drops an elbow to the side of Kemp's head. Lee stalling. Kemp might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Lee is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Kemp missing with punches from the bottom.
Lee looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Kemp with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kemp looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Kemp looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Lee slows the pace down in half guard. Lee thows a huge punch but Kemp dodges it nicely.
Kemp has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Lee is working away from the top position though.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Lee sitting and controlling from the half guard. Kemp on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Kemp is rocked! Lee is trying to work for a kimura but Kemp is defending well.
Oh Kemp is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Lee perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. Kemp seems to have got his legs back now. Kemp regains full guard. Nicely done. Kemp throwing strikes off his back to little effect.
Lee lands a couple of decent looking shots. Lee arches his back and unloads with a massive left and a right! Kemp's eyes roll back into his head, he's out cold! The ref dives in to stop the fight - wow, they were hard shots!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Ugh Lee!
