Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Mee Vattalles (ranked 1562 p4p, 193 weight class) and Joy Rones (ranked 700 p4p, 91 weight class). Vattalles's entrance music is JVG - Matti & Teppo . A fine choice. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
12 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Mee Vattalles! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
11 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Joy Rones! The judges for this bout are Marco Blurström, Tarja Halkonen and Johanna Lukiainen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Vattalles fails with the takedown and Rones counters with a stiff right hand. Vattalles lands with a shot to the body. Rones throws a series of punches but Vattalles moves out of range. Rones misses the shot to the body. Vattalles was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger. Vattalles misses with a takedown enabling Rones to counter with a crisp jab. Vattalles throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Rones's waist but Rones gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Vattalles off to one side. Rones looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mee Vattalles. That's going to take a lot out of him. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Rones cracks Vattalles with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business. Vattalles tries to clinch but Rones is having none of it. Vattalles misses with a double jab
and Rones counters with a left to the body.

Rones let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land. Vattalles keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Vattalles looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Rones! Rones holds on to Vattalles's head and controls the position momentarily. Vattalles misses with an attempted head punch from side control. Vattalles working the ground and pound but Rones is defending the strikes. Vattalles throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage. Rones defending against the ground and pound. Rones can't do much from the bottom here. Vattalles trying to control the action but Rones is working from the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Vattalles working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Vattalles wants to control but Rones is keeping him busy. Rones is trying to control Vattalles's posture but Vattalles avoids it. Rones on the wrong end of some ground and pound. Vattalles trying to control the position but Rones is working away.
That's three minutes gone in the round. We've been hearing good reports from Vattalles's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today. Check out the look on Vattalles's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
Vattalles slows the pace down. Vattalles advances to full mount. Rones really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Vattalles. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Vattalles is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Rones to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Rones shrugs it off. Vattalles with good strikes from the mount here! The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Vattalles with a couple of short strikes.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Vattalles avoids the attempt from Rones to control. Vattalles landing strikes from the mount. Rones avoids a series of strikes thrown by Vattalles.
Vattalles landing shots from mount. Vattalles lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Vattalles looking to control but Rones is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Vattalles controlling the pace for now. Vattalles punching from mount but Rones doing a good job of avoiding damage. Rones wants to control but Vattalles is having none of it. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Vattalles shoots in for a double leg but Rones sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Vattalles tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Rones paws at him with a jab and circles away. A bone on bone clash there as Rones blocks the leg kick.
Vattalles throws a right hand that Rones ducks under and follows up with a left that Rones also avoids with ease. Rones connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son. Vattalles looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Vattalles throws a nice looking combination but Rones bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. That's one minute gone in the round. A telegraphed right hand from Rones misses the target. Vattalles misses the jab. Rones looks like he wants to counter punch here. Vattalles is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Rones looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Vattalles shoots in looking for a takedown. Rones tries to sprawl out of it but Vattalles keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Rones manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Vattalles shoots in for a takedown but Rones shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Vattalles misses with a right hand and Rones connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Rones stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Rones wants it to stay on the feet. A little jabbing left from Rones on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Rones slaps away a takedown attempt from Vattalles, before circling back to the center of the mat. Vattalles scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard. Vattalles throws a body shot but no joy. Vattalles dives in and grabs Rones's left leg, looking for a takedown. Rones pushes down on Vattalles's head and hops out. Mee Vattalles is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Vattalles tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Rones swivels and escapes. Vattalles tries for a takedown but Rones sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Vattalles tries a head kick but it misses.
Rones is clearly trying to counter these attacks from Vattalles with a body shot. Rones works the jab nicely. Vattalles misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Joy Rones seems to be getting the better of the standup. Vattalles tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Rones paws at him with a jab and circles away. Rones looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it. Vattalles throws a right and a left that Rones avoids nicely. Rones throws out a counter right but Vattalles avoids it with no problem. Rones defending well as Vattalles loads up on a big left hand. A little jabbing left from Rones on the counter but it doesn't find it's target. Mee Vattalles seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Vattalles slips a straight right by Rones. Vattalles fails with a takedown attempt.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Vattalles shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Rones as he avoids it easily. Vattalles ducks under a wild hook from Rones. Vattalles slips under a jab. Rones misses with a hook. Vattalles ducked under it nicely. Vattalles swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect. Rones swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Vattalles pivots, looking for a leg kick but Rones is out of range and Vattalles settles back down. A swing and a miss from Vattalles. Vattalles shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Rones pinned against the cage. Rones gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Rones is clearly trying to counter these attacks from Vattalles with a body shot. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Vattalles shoots in for a takedown but Rones shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Joy Rones showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!

Vattalles gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Rones makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range. Vattalles tries for a takedown but Rones circles away easily and Vattalles takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Vattalles shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Rones cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mee Vattalles. That's going to take a lot out of him. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Rones moves out of range as Vattalles strikes. Rones appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Rones misses with a looping right. Rones keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.

Vattalles fails to land the takedown. Vattalles looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Joy Rones is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Rones misses with a straight right. Vattalles tests Rones's chin there with a solid looking shot. Rones displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Vattalles. It seemed like Rones was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Vattalles shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Rones cracks Vattalles with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Rones has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Vattalles to stand back up!
Vattalles is rocked!
It looks like Mee Vattalles has been cut. Rones has been the more effective fighter overall so far. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Rones is looking for an opening here. He's unloaded a big left hand that catches Vattalles flush on the jaw and sends him tumbling to the canvas! Vattalles is out cold! Rones holds back from landing any unnecessary shots to his unconscious opponent, as the referee reacts slowly to the situation. A brutal knockout and then some excellent sportsmanship - this guy is my new favorite fighter!
