Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Bart Contreras! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Carlos Hernandez ! The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Cecil Peabody and Robert Twigg.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Contreras closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Hernandez 's guard. Hernandez looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Hernandez is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Hernandez looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Hernandez controls Contreras momentarily but Contreras frees himself. Contreras might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Contreras stops Hernandez from standing up. Contreras is fighting to break Hernandez 's control of his arms but Hernandez is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment. Hernandez bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Contreras's guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Contreras trying to keep a closed guard but Hernandez is proving a slippery customer.
Hernandez slips nicely into half guard. Hernandez performing his best blanket impression for a moment. Contreras keeps control of the position for the meantime. Contreras wants to get back to full guard. Contreras looking to force a kimura from the bottom here. He's concentrating on that move too much though and Hernandez pushes past his half guard into mount! Hernandez pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage. Hernandez with a couple of short strikes. Contreras is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Hernandez with shots to the head and body - Contreras looks very uncomfortable down there. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Contreras has left one of his arms exposed and Hernandez doesn't need a second invitation. He's isolated it and locked on a tight armbar. Contreras screams and taps out, obviously in a lot of pain. Hopefully there isn't permanent damage to that arm.
