Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Gil Shaffer (ranked 5741 p4p, 0 weight class) and Zeke Tydus (ranked 5734 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Gil Shaffer! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Zeke Tydus! The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Alec Ball and Yves DeLean.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Tydus fails in his attempt to clinch. Shaffer seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter. Zeke Tydus seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Tydus fails in his attempt to clinch. Shaffer is looking to counter the offense by Tydus and move into the clinch. Shaffer avoids the head kick by Tydus.
Tydus tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Tydus doesn't manage to clinch there - Shaffer circles away.
Tydus scores with a hook to the body. Shaffer takes a step back and tries to catch his breath. Tydus doesn't manage to clinch there - Shaffer circles away.
Shaffer seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter. Tydus shoots in looking for a takedown but Shaffer manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Tydus's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Shaffer swats away the attempt to clinch by Tydus. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Tydus tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Shaffer counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Shaffer.
That's one minute gone in the round. Tydus is working an open guard so Shaffer takes the opportunity to get back to his feet. Tydus gets tackled into the cage by Shaffer. Shaffer maintains the clinch. Tydus jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Shaffer walks away with a smile on his face. Tydus gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Tydus digs a good hook to Shaffer's body.

Tydus lands with a hook. Shaffer tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
It looks like Gil Shaffer has been cut. Tydus wants to clinch up but Shaffer keeps it at a distance. Tydus pushes Shaffer away with a front kick. Tydus misses with a head kick.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Tydus.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Shaffer tries to land a front kick but Tydus steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed. Tydus looks like he wants to counter punch here. Tydus throws a left and a right that both miss
and Shaffer counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Shaffer. Shaffer breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Shaffer could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Tydus misses with a kick to the body and Shaffer decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Tydus's guard. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Tydus looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Tydus looks winded! Shaffer stands and steps away. Tydus gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game. Shaffer circles away from the clinch attempt and Shaffer counters with a single leg into guard. Tydus didn't expect that. Shaffer lands a couple of digs. Shaffer working some strikes from top position. Shaffer gets to his feet. Tydus looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Shaffer fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Tydus to the ground. Shaffer is now in Tydus's guard. Shaffer decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Tydus, up you get! Shaffer closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Shaffer lands in his opponent's guard. Shaffer stands up over Tydus, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Shaffer stands up from guard. Let's bang! Shaffer manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Tydus on his heels. He'll look to pass Tydus's guard now, I'm sure. Shaffer is in close to Tydus's body, working some short punches and elbows. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Shaffer stands up from Tydus's guard - Shaffer perhaps looking for a knockout. Shaffer darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Shaffer is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Shaffer is working for an americana but Tydus has been sneaky and has managed to get back to half guard, whilst Shaffer was thinking about the submission. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Shaffer's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Shaffer preventing the sweep. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Gil Shaffer dominated that round. The cut man is working on Gil Shaffer's cut. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
Tydus will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Tydus tries to clinch there but Shaffer circles away.

He's landed in Tydus's guard. Shaffer stands up from guard. Let's bang! Shaffer changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Tydus looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Shaffer wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Tydus, who protects the arm well.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Shaffer looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Gil Shaffer overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Shaffer wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Tydus, who protects the arm well. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Shaffer is trying to get an arm triangle but Tydus is defending well. Shaffer thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Shaffer working away. Shaffer tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Shaffer has hold of Tydus's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Tydus tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Shaffer cranks the arm and Tydus screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Tydus, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:57 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Gil Shaffer!
