1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Marcos Vamvakaris! The judges for this bout are Aleksandr Martynov, Sergei Dronov and Konstantin Menshow.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Vamvakaris looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. A little feinted left hand from Blabalov on the counter but he doesn't commit to it. Blabalov scores with a sloppy right hand. Vamvakaris should have avoided that one. Blabalov misses with a double jab.
Blabalov misses with a straight left. Blabalov lands a two punch combo.
Vamvakaris takes a body punch but keeps moving. Jab, jab by Blabalov - just one landing. Blabalov clinches. Blabalov's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. A looping hook to the body misses from Blabalov. Vamvakaris does a little dance to reset his feet. Vamvakaris feints the counter takedown. Blabbidy Blabalov seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Blabalov is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Vamvakaris. Blabalov thuds a left hand into Vamvakaris's body.
That's one minute gone in the round. Vamvakaris dives in and scores a takedown into Blabalov's guard. Blabalov keeping moving, preventing Vamvakaris from controlling successfully. Blabalov is looking to stand up but Vamvakaris isn't so interested in that idea. Vamvakaris is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. That's two minutes gone in the round. Vamvakaris slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Blabalov trying to keep a closed guard but Vamvakaris is proving a slippery customer.
Blabalov wants to sweep but no luck. Vamvakaris drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Vamvakaris jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Vamvakaris is standing up over Blabalov. Blabalov looks to escape but Vamvakaris dives into side control.
Vamvakaris is working to tighten his grip on Blabalov's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Blabalov has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Vamvakaris is really squeezing tight and eventually Blabalov passes out! Vamvakaris breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
