Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
21 - 12 - 1, fighting out of London, Sergey Beznisko! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
19 - 11 - 1, fighting out of New York, Hyryx Dall! The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Frank Antenori and .
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Beznisko misses with a hook
and Beznisko takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Dall thows a left - swing and a miss! Beznisko swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect. Beznisko lands a nice shot that snaps Dall's head back.
It looks like Hyryx Dall has been cut. Dall misses with a looping right. Beznisko lands with a good body shot. Dall has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Beznisko finds it's way round the side to connect with Dall's head. Dall uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Beznisko.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Beznisko tries to land a body kick and Dall counters with a straight right hand. The crowd cheers as Dall lands an impressive looking overhand right. Beznisko doesn't seem phased though. Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Dall.
That's one minute gone in the round. Beznisko jabbing away but nothing is landing. Beznisko takes the fight into the clinch. Beznisko blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Dall tries to work over Beznisko's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target. Dall tries a body shot but Beznisko blocks it.
Dall misses with a hook to the ribs.
Beznisko digs a right hand into Dall's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Dall's gas tank. Beznisko stalling in the clinch but Dall improves position. Stalling in the clinch from Beznisko.
Beznisko displaying some good clinch control by pressing Dall up against the cage. Beznisko gets a warning from the ref for wasting time. Beznisko will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Dall up against the cage. Beznisko lands with a good tight uppercut to the head. I was talking to Beznisko's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Beznisko dictating the pace here, as the fighters clinch against the cage. The ref breaks the fighters up, due to lack of action by Sergey Beznisko. Dall throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Dall lands a jab to the head.
Dall has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight. Beznisko lands a nice looking body shot.
Dall fakes a jab and scores with a low kick. Beznisko scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Beznisko trying to control the pace. Dall keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Beznisko looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Dall with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Dall has hold of Beznisko's hands but Beznisko slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Dall looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Beznisko content to control rather than advance. Beznisko seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Dall for as long as he can get away with. Beznisko sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Dall defending well though. Dall manages to get to full guard.
Beznisko loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Beznisko throwing strikes but missing. Dall pushes a forearm under Beznisko's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Beznisko is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:26 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Hyryx Dall! Hyryx Dall was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
