Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Lenny Henry!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, James Curwell!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, Lou da Vinci and Dean Styles.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Henry stuffs the takedown attempt from Curwell. Curwell gets slowly back to his feet.
Henry looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
A head kick misses from Henry.
Henry fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Henry moves out of the way of the counter high kick fromCurwell.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Nice takedown defense from Curwell. No joy for Henry on that attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Lenny Henry. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Henry tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Curwell manages to circle out of the way.

Curwell bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Henry wants to control but Curwell postures up.

Curwell prevents Henry from escaping the position.
Henry tries to buck Curwell off but Curwell is having none of it.
Curwell wants to control but Henry is keeping him busy.
Henry prevents Curwell from improving position.
The strikes coming from Curwell are missing the target in this wave of attacks.

Curwell tries to move to mount but Henry blocks the move with his legs.

Curwell stands up.

Curwell throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Henry was covering up waiting for the punch and Curwell finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Henry wants to sweep here but Curwell controlling him for the moment.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Henry wants to stand and escape but Curwell is having none of it.
Curwell wants to pass the guard but Henry is keeping the position.
Curwell is fighting to break Henry's control of his arms but Henry is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



Curwell forces Henry back against the cage and clinches.
Curwell tries for a takedown but Henry manages to get underhooks.

Curwell is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Henry gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Lenny Henry has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of James Curwell.
Curwell goes for a takedown attempt but Henry pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Curwell shoots in but Henry avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Curwell shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Curwell misses with a two punch combination.
Curwell dives in and grabs Henry's left leg, looking for a takedown. Henry pushes down on Curwell's head and hops out.

Curwell gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Henry to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Henry controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Henry has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Curwell wants to stand and escape but Henry is having none of it.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Henry is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Curwell throws a head kick that misses
and Henry counters with a left and a right that stings Curwell.
Henry throws a low kick but it's checked well by Curwell.

Nice sprawl there from Curwell as Henry shoots in.

Henry has Curwell up against the cage in a clinch.
Curwell throws an elbow that misses.
Henry struggles to land a body shot inside as Curwell controls his hands.

Henry manages to break the clinch.
Henry has a takedown stuffed.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Curwell scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Lenny Henry dominated that second round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!


Curwell has his takedown stuffed

so Henry counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Curwell is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Curwell is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Henry pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Henry misses with a shot to the kidneys.
A nice glancing elbow lands by Henry.
Curwell tries to pull guard but Henry forces him back to his feet, against the cage.

Henry breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Henry tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Henry closes the distance and clinches up with Curwell, looking for a takedown. Henry pushes Curwell against the cage but Curwell circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Curwell tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Henry shoots for a double leg takedown but Curwell sprawls well. He's pushed Henry's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Curwell feints the counter takedown.
Henry fails with a takedown attempt.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Curwell throws a head kick that looked like it stung.

Henry fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Curwell sprawls well initially but Henry persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Curwell is trying to escape back to his feet but Henry uses the scramble to pass into side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Curwell is trying to buck Henry off.

Henry decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Henry pulls out of a head kick attempt.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Curwell blocks a head kick by Henry.
Curwell leaves Henry with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Curwell with the counter takedown but Henry avoids it easily.

Curwell shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Henry napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Henry throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done!

Curwell manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Henry on his heels. He'll look to pass Henry's guard now, I'm sure.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Curwell is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Henry holds on and takes a little breather.
Curwell won't allow Henry to get back to his feet.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Lenny Henry.
I think Henry has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
