With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Petiah Mathis!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mathis closes this distance looking for a takedown but Booningham circles away.
Booningham misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

It looks like Petiah Mathis has been cut.

Daniel Booningham is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Mathis shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Mathis was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Mathis is trying to get an arm triangle but Booningham is defending well.
Booningham is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Mathis asserts his dominance and retains side control.

Mathis has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Booningham is pushing Mathis's head away, looking to escape. Mathis manages to hold on to the position though.

Booningham bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Booningham darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Mathis changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Booningham tries to avoid it but Mathis manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Booningham to the ground. Booningham escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Booningham connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Mathis ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Booningham moves away.
Mathis connects with a nice looking jab.
Booningham jabs Mathis to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Booningham lands a jab to the head.

Mathis avoids the body shot from Booningham.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Booningham lands with a straight right. Mathis didn't see that one coming.
Booningham ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Mathis moves away.
Mathis tries to score a power double leg takedown but Booningham sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Mathis somewhat.
Daniel Booningham has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Petiah Mathis.
Mathis fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Booningham avoids it really well and circles away.
Booningham swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.

Mathis looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Booningham is trying to stand back up but Mathis is controlling him
Ground and pound from Mathis.

Booningham kicks off Mathis and gets to his feet.
Mathis slips a jab and a cross from Booningham.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
A looping hook to the body misses from Booningham. Mathis does a little dance to reset his feet.
Booningham throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Mathis stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mathis gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Mathis takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Daniel Booningham is winning the standup battle so far.
Mathis tries to clinch but Booningham is having none of it.
Booningham is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.

Booningham gets caught flat footed, as Mathis shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Mathis loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Booningham is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Mathis is controlling him.
Mathis distracts Booningham with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Booningham is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Mathis can do to turn this around?
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Booningham wants to stand but Mathis is controlling the position.
Mathis working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Mathis advances position into side control!

Mathis is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Booningham has escaped the position, nice work there.

Mathis is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Booningham knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Booningham is trying to get back to his feet.

Booningham takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
Petiah Mathis has got the better of the ground game so far.
Mathis landing with strikes to the head and body from side control.
Mathis lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.

Mathis looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Mathis lands a decent elbow from side control.

Booningham wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
Mathis in side control here. He's dropped a big elbow there and Booningham looks hurt! Oh, he is hurt! Mathis turns on the heat and pounds him out for a TKO victory! Good killer instinct there!
