PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Josh Turner (ranked 681 p4p, 28 weight class) and Edgy Brah (ranked 828 p4p, 34 weight class). Turner comes to the cage accompanied by Next Episode by Dr. Dre. Brah has chosen Dropped by Smoke Serpent as his entrance music. Edgy Brah acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Josh Turner!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Edgy Brah!
The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Albert Achterberg and Saam Ante.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Turner moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
Brah walks into a straight right hand from Turner.
Turner moves out of range as Brah throws a body kick.
Brah misses with a wild body shot.
Turner lands a right hook to the body.
Brah blocks a head kick by Turner.
Turner throws a low kick but it's checked well by Brah.
It seemed like Brah was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.

Turner darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Turner swings for the body but Brah moves out of range.
Turner tries to work over Brah's front leg with a kick but Brah checks it.
Turner throws a hook but Brah avoids it easily.
Brah shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Turner as he avoids it easily.
Brah throws a hook to the side of Turner's head but Turner sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Brah throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Brah throws a jab but it's blocked by Turner.
Turner appears to be looking for a counter takedown.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Brah slips a jab and a cross from Turner.
Turner takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Turner throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Brah on the side of the head.
Turner connects with a looping right hand.
Turner misses the jab.
Brah let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land.
Brah misses with a hook. Turner ducked under it nicely.
Turner takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Turner throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
Turner throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Brah throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Turner misses with an uppercut
and Brah connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Brah lands a jab.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Turner connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Brah momentarily.
Brah throws a lazy right hand but Turner sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Brah closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Turner quickly recovers to half guard.
Turner wants to get back to full guard.
Brah is taking a breather. Turner says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Brah is trying to control. Turner wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Brah seems to be looking for submissions.
Turner is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Turner is trying to maintain the position but Brah is very close to passing his half guard.
Brah prevents Turner from improving his position.

Turner keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Turner tries to get to full guard but Brah has control of the leg.
Brah working over Turner with some ground and pound. Turner looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.

Brah is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Brah wants to control from the top but Turner keeps moving.
Brah passes into half guard.

Brah is trying to work for a kimura but Turner is defending well.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Edgy Brah will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Brah lands a nice looking body shot.
Turner looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Brah tries to move into range but Turner moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Turner misses with a few strikes there.
Brah swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Turner throws a leg kick that is checked
and Brah counters with a straight right hand.
Brah stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
A shot to the liver by Turner. Beautiful body shot.
Brah swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Turner.
Brah throws a series of punches but Turner moves out of range.
Turner has a takedown stuffed.
The fighters circling - Turner throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Brah slips under a jab.
Turner moves out of range of the body kick from Brah.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Good exchange - Turner coming out on top.

Brah feints and as Turner raises his hands in defense, Brah changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Brah trying to control the position from guard on top but Turner is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Brah has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Brah cracks Turner with a solid left hand.

Brah throws a big elbow that misses.
Turner is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Brah is trying to get back to full guard.

Edgy Brah has got the better of the ground game so far.
Brah has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Turner is working away from the top position though.

Turner tries to pass to full mount but Brah defends it.

Turner is thwarting Brah's attempts to control the position.
Brah is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Turner's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Turner's back!
Brah has the hooks in. Turner is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.

Turner turns into Brah and is now in his guard.

Brah is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Turner postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.

Brah tries to bench press Turner off him but Turner keeps the position.
Brah prevents Turner from improving position.
Brah is trying to improve his position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Turner tries to advance to mount but Brah denies him.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Edgy Brah will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Brah ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Turner moves away.
Turner feinted with a counter takedown.
Turner throws a hook to the side of Brah's head but Brah sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Edgy Brah seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Brah staying out of range there.
Some wild striking there from Turner.
Turner throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Brah.
Turner cracks Brah with a good jab.
Turner throws a series of punches but Brah moves out of range.

Turner shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Brah manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Brah looking for a triangle here. Turner is fighting it but it looks tight! Brah pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Turner is tapping out - this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:24 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Choke). Edgy Brah!
Edgy Brah very nearly forgot to thank Freebok (85% Laundry) amongst all the excitement of his win but just as the interview came to a close, he screamed their name. Hopefully he'll get a few nice freebies in the mail as a thank you.
