Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ramon Diaz (ranked 3312 p4p, 436 weight class) and Shaun Sargent (ranked 3231 p4p, 425 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ramon Diaz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Shaun Sargent!
The judges for this bout are Marco Blurström, Matti Vanhoillinen and Ben Zyskovitsi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Sargent scores with a takedown into Diaz's guard.
Sargent sitting in guard, not really doing much.
It looks like Sargent might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
Diaz is trying to keep Sargent in close.
Sargent trying to move into half guard but instead Diaz has managed to sweep!

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Sargent seems keen to control Diaz's posture.
Diaz missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

Sargent manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.

Diaz throws a strike but Sargent rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Sargent decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Diaz, up you get!

Sargent closes the distance and pushes Diaz back into the cage.
Diaz has had enough of the clinch but Sargent keeps him there for the moment.
Sargent fails to pull guard.
Sargent is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.
Diaz wants to break the clinch but can't.
Diaz misses with a short punch on the inside.
Sargent is stalling here.

Sargent gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.

Diaz has one foot on Sargent's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.

Sargent is looking to clinch but Diaz is avoiding it.

Sargent closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Sargent lands in his opponent's guard.

Diaz has his feet on Sargent's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
Diaz takes one to the side of the head.
Diaz misses with a series of wild punches.
Sargent swats away the attempt to clinch by Diaz.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Diaz misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Diaz throws a sloppy head kick and Sargent moves out of range easily.
Sargent steps in looking to clinch after the strikes miss from Diaz.

Sargent slaps away a takedown attempt from Diaz, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Sargent throws a jab when Diaz was well out of range.
Sargent shoots in for a takedown but Diaz shows good takedown defense.
Diaz throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Sargent.
Sargent wants to counter with a clinch but Diaz pushes him away.
Sargent tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Diaz defends well and Sargent ends up having to push Diaz into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Diaz wants to improve his position but Sargent is controlling well.

That was a close round but I would say that Ramon Diaz will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Diaz manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Sargent keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.

Sargent shoots in looking for a takedown. Diaz tries to sprawl out of it but Sargent keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Diaz manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Diaz decides to stand back up. Diaz steps back and let's Sargent get back to his feet.

and Diaz counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Diaz.

Diaz is looking to take this one to the mat.

Sargent escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Sargent closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Diaz quickly recovers to half guard.
Diaz scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Sargent manages to mount him!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Diaz is looking to improve his position but Sargent isn't that keen on the idea.

Sargent avoids the attempt from Diaz to control.
Diaz is in all sorts of trouble here.

Diaz bucks Sargent off and manages to get back to his feet!

Sargent throws a head kick that misses.
Diaz dives in for a single leg takedown but Sargent sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Sargent feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Diaz is trying to control the position but Sargent postures up.
Diaz knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Sargent on the ground.
Sargent wants to control from the top but Diaz keeps moving.
Sargent throws a big right hand that misses.

Diaz is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Sargent is aware though and is defending well.

That was a close second round but I would say that Ramon Diaz will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Diaz rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Sargent moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Diaz goes for a double leg but Sargent avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Sargent continues to drive forward.

Sargent lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Diaz wants to improve his position but Sargent is controlling well.
Sargent is trying to control the action in half guard but Diaz is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Sargent takes a little break here. Diaz wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Sargent has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Diaz!
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

I think Diaz has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
