Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Glen Jacobs (ranked 4943 p4p, 403 weight class) and Jair Malachi (ranked 7094 p4p, 481 weight class). Jair Malachi is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Glen Jacobs! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jair Malachi! The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, George Francis and Daniel Franklin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A big right from Malachi misses. Malachi ducks down and throws a hook to the body. Malachi cracks Jacobs with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd. Jacobs uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Malachi.
Jacobs closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Malachi quickly recovers to half guard. Malachi is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Jacobs pulls his head out easily. Jacobs takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Malachi is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
That's one minute gone in the round. Still in half guard, Jacobs seems content to control. Jacobs not landing any meaningful shots this time. Jacobs seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Malachi looks to land a left hand but Jacobs moved out of range nicely. Jacobs defending well as Malachi loads up on a big left hand. Jacobs ducks under a wild hook from Malachi. Jacobs is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Malachi.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Malachi misses with a hook. Jacobs ducked under it nicely. We've been told by Jacobs's head coaches at White's ELITE Fitness Gym that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. Jacobs bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Jacobs moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now. Malachi stops Jacobs from passing to mount. Jacobs controls the position. Jacobs tries to move into full mount but can't pass Malachi's legs. Malachi has found himself in a tricky position here. He's been working his transitions in training so let's see if he can work his way out of it. Malachi struggling a bit here.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Malachi manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu! Malachi wants to work for an arm triangle but Jacobs is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Malachi might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Jacobs haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. A close round but Jair Malachi will probably get the nod. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Jacobs is trying hard to land a takedown here. Malachi sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Malachi now looks to counter with a shot at the body. Jacobs tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Malachi defends well and Jacobs ends up having to push Malachi into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. Malachi throws a jab but it's blocked by Jacobs. Jacobs uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Malachi. Jacobs tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Malachi manages to circle out of the way. Malachi displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Jacobs throws out the jab. Jacobs perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Jacobs has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Jacobs closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Malachi did well to prevent Jacobs getting side control. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Malachi pulls Jacobs in close to prevent any damage. Jair Malachi is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. Jacobs wants to control from the top but Malachi keeps moving.

Glen Jacobs has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Jair Malachi seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Malachi takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
