Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jake Butler (ranked 664 p4p, 68 weight class) and Thiago Araujo (ranked 1135 p4p, 120 weight class). Jake Butler has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
13 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jake Butler! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Thiago Araujo! The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Paul Tew and Sam Margolis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Butler drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Butler sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Araujo's guard. Araujo looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Butler is looking to take a break and control but Araujo is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Butler prevents Araujo from improving his position. Araujo wants to control but Butler is keeping busy and won't allow it. Araujo moves into full guard.
Butler throwing strikes from guard but Araujo blocks nicely. Butler has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Araujo working for a triangle but Butler defends it easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Butler trying to control but Araujo is working from the bottom. Butler got a little sloppy there for a moment and Araujo has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Butler has managed to get both his arms back between Araujo's legs - danger averted.
That's one minute gone in the round. Butler works a leg free and moves into half guard. Araujo is trying to control but can't.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Butler is landing with some decent strikes but Araujo is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue. Araujo bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done! Araujo pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Butler is keeping the position for now. Araujo throws a big elbow that misses.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Araujo is working Butler over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Butler lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard. Butler looking to pass the guard. Araujo looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Butler has picked Araujo up and slammed him! Araujo can't keep hold of the triangle and Butler manages to pass to side control! We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Butler works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head. Araujo tries to buck Butler off but Butler is having none of it. Araujo sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard. Butler moves nicely into side control. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Butler has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Araujo! Butler with good strikes from the mount here! Butler lands a big shot there that rocks Araujo but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Araujo can't escape the position.
Butler lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Araujo hang on?
That's three minutes gone in the round. Butler can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Araujo is looking to escape. Araujo is trying desperately to improve position. Butler landing strikes, looking to finish! Butler breaks from Araujo's wrist control and lands an elbow. Araujo really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Butler scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Araujo?
Araujo sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though. Butler slips a nice elbow through Araujo's hands, connecting with Araujo's forehead. Araujo is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Araujo is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Butler pulls his head out easily. Butler winds up and cracks Araujo with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Butler is nestled in close to Araujo, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Butler uses his free foot to push down on Araujo's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Araujo. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Butler trying to control but Araujo is having none of it. Butler lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Araujo hang on? Araujo really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Butler landing strikes from the mount. Butler connects with a bit shot that sees Araujo covering up! More strikes from Butler and the referee jumps in to stop the fight! Butler is our winner by TKO!
