Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Hollis Ford (ranked 5720 p4p, 0 weight class) and Daniel Simms (ranked 5394 p4p, 0 weight class). Daniel Simms is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Hollis Ford! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Daniel Simms! The judges for this bout are Josh West, Ryoma Takatsuka and Chris Saunders.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Simms closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Ford to the mat! Ford manages to get full guard. Simms controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Ford throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land. Ford trying to control the position.
Simms stands and throws Ford's legs to the side, diving into side control. Ford is not content to let Simms control the position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. The referee asks Simms politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Simms prefers to stall for the moment though.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ford stops Simms from passing to mount. Simms working away. Simms is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Ford's shoulder. That is not cool. Simms tries to advance to mount but Ford denies him. Simms scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Ford to see if he's OK. Simms controls the position. Ford is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Simms tries to advance to mount but Ford denies him. Simms trying to control the action but Ford is working from the bottom. Ford taking punishment in the form of punches.
Ford is trying to get back to his feet. Ford wants to control but Simms postures up. Ford throws a couple of strikes even though he's not really in a good position to do so.
Simms remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while. Simms has hold of Ford's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Ford seems comfortable defending it but Simms has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Ford is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Ford is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Simms couldn't care less - he's delighted!
