Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Brian Fox (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Harley Reyes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Fox might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Cant Be Touched by Roy Jones Jr.. The crowd seem to be enjoying Reyes's choice of entrance music: Voodoo Chile (Stevie Ray Vaughan). Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
10 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Brian Fox! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Harley Reyes! The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Felipe Paraventi and Emerson Jorge.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Fox will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Fox throws a right hand that Reyes ducks under and follows up with a left that Reyes also avoids with ease. Reyes looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Reyes shoots in looking for a takedown. Fox tries to sprawl out of it but Reyes keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Fox manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Fox throws a big shot that misses. Fox slips a jab and a cross from Reyes.
Reyes drives through with a takedown into guard. Reyes is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Reyes throwing strikes but missing. Reyes makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. Reyes wants to pass the guard but Fox is keeping the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Fox is looking to stand up but Reyes isn't so interested in that idea. Reyes trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Reyes missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Fox preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Reyes throwing strikes but missing. Reyes trying to control the position from guard on top but Fox is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Reyes has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Reyes content to stall in guard here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Reyes dodges the punch combination from Fox.
Fox misses with a double jab
and Fox takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
It looks like Brian Fox has been cut. Fox avoids the body shot from Reyes.
Fox takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. Reyes uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Fox. Reyes staying out of range there. Fox falls off balance throwing a combination
and Reyes counters with a shoot takedown. Fox fights it but they end up in guard. Fox utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Reyes is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. Reyes trying to control the position from guard on top but Fox is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Reyes is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Reyes trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Reyes throwing strikes from guard but Fox blocks nicely. Reyes wants to pass the guard but Fox is keeping the position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Reyes controls from within his opponent's guard. Fox has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall. Fox is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Reyes is controlling him. Reyes content to stall in guard here. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Harley Reyes dominated that round. The cut man is working on Brian Fox's cut. That's time! Fox's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Fox throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Reyes sees it coming and avoids it easily. Fox throws a right and a left that both miss. Fox misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Fox misses with a body shot
and Reyes counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Reyes slips a jab from Fox. Reyes slips a jab and a cross from Fox.
Reyes scores with a jab. Fox acknowledges it with a nod of the head. Fox shoots in looking for a takedown. Reyes tries to sprawl out of it but Fox keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Reyes manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Reyes throws a left that rocks Fox and follows with a right that sends him tumbling to the canvas! Reyes dives into side control, looking to finish! Can Fox regain composure!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Reyes takes a little break here. Fox wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well. Reyes throws an elbow but Fox slips to the side and avoids it well.
That's one minute gone in the round. Reyes landing a few strikes. The strikes coming from Reyes are missing the target in this wave of attacks. Reyes misses with an attempted head punch from side control. Fox is not content to let Reyes control the position. Fox pushes Reyes away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Reyes gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control. Reyes taking a breather here. Reyes looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Fox is avoiding damage well.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Reyes with the ground and pound but Fox regains half guard under the barage of strikes. Reyes wants to take a breather but Fox is having none of it.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Fox throws a predictable looking body shot

Brian Fox's cut is getting worse. Harley Reyes seems to be getting the better of the standup. Reyes stalks Fox and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Fox's face. Fox staggers backwards, shaken.
Fox is rocked! Brian Fox is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Reyes fires a straight punch through the middle that cracks Fox square on the jaw! Damn, Fox is out cold on his feet and topples face first to the canvas! Wow, I haven't seen a knockout that brutal in a long time!
