Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Steve Roach (ranked 1478 p4p, 230 weight class) and Gootti Kustaa (ranked 2001 p4p, 294 weight class). The key to victory for Steve Roach has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Steve Roach!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Gootti Kustaa!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, Ben Watson and Ron Honeybunn.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Roach throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Kustaa shoots in and drives through. Roach sprawls well.
Roach lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Kustaa at a distance.
Roach misses with an uppercut.
Kustaa closes the distance and clinches up with Roach, looking for a takedown. Kustaa pushes Roach against the cage but Roach circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
A slow jab from Roach misses its intended target.
Roach misses with an uppercut. Kustaa saw that one coming.
Roach punishes Kustaa's body with a nice straight punch.
Roach scores with a hook to the body. Kustaa takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Kustaa on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.


It looks like Gootti Kustaa has been cut.
Roach throws a quick inside leg kick.
Kustaa tries for a takedown but Roach sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Steve Roach has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Gootti Kustaa.
Roach swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Kustaa walks into a jab.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Roach scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Roach has been working on his boxing with his coaches at The Jungle -Apply Within in the buildup to the fight.
A slow jab from Roach misses its intended target.
Roach lands with a kick to the temple. Kustaa shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Kustaa ducks under a wild hook from Roach.
Roach scores with a nice strike.


That has opened up Gootti Kustaa's cut even more.
Roach walks into a jab.
Roach missing with a left hand there. Kustaa was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Roach lands a right hook to the body.

Kustaa moves out of range as Roach strikes.
Kustaa is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.
Roach misses with the body kick

and Kustaa counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Roach!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Roach is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Kustaa asserts his dominance and retains side control.
Roach is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Kustaa off and has taken his back!

Kustaa tries to escape but Roach has the hooks in and won't let him break free.
Kustaa staying busy and making it hard for Roach to control.
You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.
Kustaa wants to control his opponent's hands but Roach gets his hands free.
The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Roach's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.
Roach trying to secure his dominant position for a moment - making sure Kustaa doesn't escape.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kustaa trying to control but he's just got himself in more trouble.
Kustaa is really stuck here.
Kustaa prevents Roach from getting a body triangle.
I would not like to be Kustaa right now.
Kustaa tries to break free.
Roach is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.
Kustaa is in bad spot here.

Kustaa is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.
Will Roach go for the finish here or will he try and keep control of the position?
Kustaa turns into Roach and is now in his guard.
Kustaa distracts Roach with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Roach pulls Kustaa in close to prevent any damage.
Roach looking to control.
Kustaa in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Kustaa must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Kustaa throwing strikes but missing.
Roach wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Kustaa manages to pass to side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Roach keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
Roach lands an overhand right.
Kustaa throws a lazy body kick
and Roach counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Roach misses with a body kick.
Kustaa loads up on a big right hand but Roach slips the punch.
Kustaa gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Roach.


The cut above Gootti Kustaa's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
Kustaa ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Roach stuffs the takedown attempt from Kustaa. Kustaa gets slowly back to his feet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kustaa uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Roach.
Kustaa has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Roach.
Kustaa defending well as Roach loads up on a big left hand.
Roach lands a nice looking body kick.
Steve Roach is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Kustaa takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.
Roach missing with a left hand there. Kustaa was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Kustaa dives in for a single leg takedown but Roach sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Roach leaves Kustaa with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Steve Roach has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Gootti Kustaa.
Nice body kick there by Roach.
Kustaa is breathing heavily.
Roach swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Kustaa.
Roach scores with a jab.
A big right from Roach misses.
The fighters circling - Roach throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
And Kustaa tries to counter it with a takedown but Roach pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Roach throws a lazy right hand but Kustaa sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Roach connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Kustaa throws a right hand that Roach ducks under and follows up with a left that Roach also avoids with ease.

Roach cracks Kustaa with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Roach has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Kustaa to stand back up!


Kustaa is rocked!


Gootti Kustaa's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Gootti Kustaa's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:19 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Steve Roach!
