Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Lyle Roach! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Brian Scacchi! The judges for this bout are Ben Watson, Bruno Hogan and Damien Edna.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Scacchi shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Roach is trying to defend but Scacchi finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Scacchi missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Roach is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Scacchi pulls his head out easily. Roach wants to control but Scacchi is keeping busy.
Roach is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control. Roach is doing well to control the position and prevent Scacchi from advancing to side control. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Roach blocking the ground and pound attempt from Scacchi. Roach might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Scacchi slows the pace down in half guard. Scacchi tries to stand but can't do so whilst Roach controls his leg.
That's one minute gone in the round. Roach is trying to maintain the position but Scacchi is very close to passing his half guard. Scacchi stops Roach from getting back to his feet.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Scacchi throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Roach. Scacchi clinches.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Scacchi gets a nice trip takedown into half guard. Scacchi trying to control from half guard but Roach is working away. Scacchi is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Roach looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Roach is trying to get back to full guard. Scacchi is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Roach striking from half guard on the bottom.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Roach flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Roach looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Scacchi trying to mount his opponent but Roach defends it. Roach connecting with a few gentle strikes. Roach really is a fat lump. Scacchi is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Roach is not content to let Scacchi control the position. Roach wants to improve his position but Scacchi is controlling well.

That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Scacchi wants to free his trapped foot but Roach is holding on for dear life with his legs. Scacchi decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up. Scacchi drives through with a takedown into Roach's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position. Roach has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Scacchi has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage. Roach ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Roach no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard. Scacchi must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Roach is breathing heavily. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Scacchi trying to control but Roach is working from the bottom. Roach working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Scacchi doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Roach is tightening it up a little... Scacchi has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Scacchi reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Scacchi taps out! Nice BJJ there by Roach!
