The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McGillicutty attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.
And Ashimov tries to counter it with a takedown but McGillicutty pushes his down on his head and steps out.
McGillicutty ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
McGillicutty moves forwards but Ashimov connects with a nice, crisp jab.

McGillicutty uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Ashimov.
McGillicutty appeared to be looking to counter that last move with a leg kick.
McGillicutty dips to his left and cracks Ashimov with an uppercut!

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Ashimov lands a nice hook to McGillicutty's body. McGillicutty takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.

Ashimov has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of McGillicutty's face.
McGillicutty is bucking up trying to escape but Ashimov cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

McGillicutty really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Ashimov working his ground and pound in the gym. So far it seems to be working well.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Ashimov cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Oh McGillicutty is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
McGillicutty really wants to buck Ashimov off and get back to his feet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
McGillicutty seems to have got his legs back now.

Ashimov postures up and connects with a big shot that has rocked McGillicutty badly. He's trying desperately to grab hold of Ashimov around the waist but Ashimov pushes him off and unloads with more strikes, forcing the referee to jump in and save him! Ashimov is the winner by TKO! Ashimov jumps onto the cage and shouts into the camera. "We did it momma!"
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:53 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Temirlan Ashimov!
A very excited looking Temirlan Ashimov made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
The defeated John McGillicutty had this to say: 'Sometimes you win. Sometimes you pick a fight with your opponent in the parking garage post-fight.'.
