Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Max Paddy (ranked 3879 p4p, 388 weight class) and Frank Smith (ranked 2250 p4p, 255 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
8 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Max Paddy! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 8 - 0, fighting out of New York, Frank Smith! The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Albert Achterberg and Nard Betker.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Smith tries to keep at a distance but Paddy has taken the fight into the clinch. Smith prevents a body shot from Paddy. Paddy is looking for a takedown. Paddy has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Smith avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. A battle for position here, against the cage. Paddy tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Smith throws a punch but it's blocked by Paddy. Paddy goes for a takedown in the clinch but Smith prevents it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Max Paddy. That's going to take a lot out of him. Paddy tries to work over Smith's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target. Smith leaning against his opponent.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Smith blocking some punches.
Paddy pulls guard effortlessly. Paddy has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance. Paddy not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Smith drops back, looking for a kneebar! Paddy looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Paddy looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Paddy! Paddy trying to control the action but Smith is working from the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round. Paddy is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Smith has escaped the position, nice work there. Smith prevents Paddy from improving position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Paddy wants to control but Smith is keeping him busy. Smith pushes Paddy away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Paddy gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control. Paddy is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Smith knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Paddy working away. Paddy trying to control the action but Smith is working from the bottom. A control attempt from Smith but he's now mounted!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Paddy trying to control but he's not successful this time. Paddy wants to take his opponent's back but Smith doesn't allow it. Smith wants to control but Paddy is having none of it. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Paddy trying to control but Smith is having none of it. Paddy wants to control but Smith has made it back to half guard. Nice work. Paddy tries to pass the half guard into mount. Smith knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Paddy sitting and controlling from the half guard. Paddy works his way into full mount! Smith is squirming around, avoiding Paddy's attempts to control the action. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Smith is looking to get to half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Max Paddy dominated that round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Paddy shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Smith as he jumps to the side. Smith throws a series of strikes that have Paddy backpedaling.
Paddy tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Smith manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Paddy closes the distance and clinches. Smith swings wildly with an uppercut but Paddy uses good head movement to avoid it. Paddy has a couple of punches blocked by Smith.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Smith tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage. Smith misses with a punch on the inside.

Smith lands a nice uppercut. Paddy tries to work over Smith's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target. Paddy is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
That's one minute gone in the round. A head punch blocked on the inside by Paddy. Paddy lands a takedown into guard.
Paddy is standing up over Smith. Smith looks to escape but Paddy dives into side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Paddy goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Smith has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Paddy but great work by Smith. Paddy gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard. Paddy is trying to maintain the position but Smith is very close to passing his half guard. Smith is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Paddy defends it well. Paddy has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Smith is working away from the top position though. Paddy wants to improve his position but Smith is controlling well.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Smith wants to control but Paddy is keeping him busy. Smith tries to stand but his arm is trapped. Max Paddy overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Paddy slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Smith trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Smith trying to control the position from guard on top but Paddy is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Paddy not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Smith drops back looking for a leg! Paddy is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Paddy manages to kick Smith off! Smith jumps back into Paddy's guard. Smith with a flurry of punches that miss. Smith got a little sloppy there for a moment and Paddy has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Smith has managed to get both his arms back between Paddy's legs - danger averted. Smith is looking to work some ground and pound but Paddy has wrist control. Smith would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Frank Smith is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Smith stuns Paddy with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Smith scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction. Paddy changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Smith tries to avoid it but Paddy manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Smith to the ground. Smith escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Max Paddy. That's going to take a lot out of him. Smith throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Smith keeps the fight on the outside. Smith lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected. Smith scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction. Frank Smith is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Smith drops Paddy with a nice combination! Smith dives into Paddy's guard, looking to finish!
Paddy is rocked! Smith drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Smith jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Oh Paddy is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Hammerfist, elbow! yells Smith's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Paddy has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Smith can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Smith missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Frank Smith showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!
Paddy tries to clinch up. Paddy seems to have got his legs back now. Max Paddy seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Paddy fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Smith, pushing him back against the cage. Smith tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage. Paddy blocks an uppercut.
Paddy wants the takedown. Smith is fighting it off but Paddy persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Smith's guard against the cage. Paddy slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Paddy tries to advance to mount but can't. Paddy takes advantage of some sloppy striking from Smith to pass into mount. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Paddy wants to take Smith's back here but Smith is holding on to an arm, himself looking to escape.
Smith can't escape the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Smith is squirming around, avoiding Paddy's attempts to control the action. Paddy throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Paddy can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Smith is looking to escape. Paddy connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Paddy throwing shots from mount but they're not landing. Smith is looking to get to half guard. Smith keeps trying to improve his position. Paddy controlling the pace for now. Paddy trying to control but he's not successful this time. Paddy goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Smith turns into him and now he's in Paddy's guard.
Smith drops back looking for a leg! Paddy is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Paddy manages to kick Smith off! Smith jumps back into Paddy's guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Paddy has a closed guard, preventing Smith from standing up. Paddy trying to keep a closed guard but Smith is proving a slippery customer.
Smith has gone for a leg lock! Paddy slips out almost immediately though and dives into Smith's guard. Paddy slips nicely into half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Paddy throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Paddy is trying to control the action in half guard but Smith is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Paddy not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Smith pushes Paddy off looking to stand but Paddy dives back in and keeps control.
Paddy working to pass to mount. He's got his hand pressing down on Smith's thigh. Smith counters though and makes it back to full guard. Smith keeping moving, preventing Paddy from controlling successfully. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Paddy tries to free his leg and advance position but Smith is retaining full guard.
And that's the end of the fight! Max Paddy showed his dominance in that final round. I think Paddy has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

In favor of your winner, by unanimous decision... Max Paddy! Max Paddy decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
