Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Andrei Chikatilo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Arvid Tarkelson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Chikatilo throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
It looks like Arvid Tarkelson has been cut. Chikatilo tries to clinch there but Tarkelson circles away.
Chikatilo throws a right and a left that Tarkelson avoids nicely. Tarkelson clinches. Chikatilo throws an elbow that misses.

Maybe Chikatilo would be better served going for some more strikes rather than trying to control so much. Tarkelson is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Chikatilo pulls him back up using the underhooks. Chikatilo working on landing some head shots here - that one got through nicely. That's four minutes gone in the round. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Chikatilo is trying to stand. Tarkelson controlling the position easily from mount. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A nice inside leg kick there by Tarkelson. That's going to slow Chikatilo down. Chikatilo stuffs the takedown. Chikatilo throws a head kick that lands with a deafening thwack! The crowd roars as Tarkelson stumbles backwards and falls to the mat. Chikatilo follows into mount! This has been an exciting period of action! Tarkelson is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Tarkelson is in all sorts of trouble here.

Chikatilo slips a nice elbow through Tarkelson's hands, connecting with Tarkelson's forehead. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Chikatilo tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Tarkelson. Chikatilo postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Tarkelson to stand up.
That's one minute gone in the round. The fight stays on the outside here - Chikatilo looks like he's thinking about clinching though. A head kick by Tarkelson misses and Chikatilo counters with a straight right hand. Chikatilo lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Tarkelson circles away quickly and effectively. Tarkelson throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body. Tarkelson has managed to clinch.

Tarkelson won't allow Chikatilo to get back to his feet. Chikatilo wants to sweep but no luck. Chikatilo is working an open guard so Tarkelson takes the opportunity to get back to his feet. Tarkelson fails in his attempt to clinch. Chikatilo darts in trying to clinch and Tarkelson counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Tarkelson. Chikatilo misses with a knee to the head. A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors. Tarkelson wants to break free but Chikatilo has control.

That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Chikatilo throws a big right hand that misses. Tarkelson wants to sweep but no luck. Tarkelson avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Chikatilo tries to free his leg and advance position but Tarkelson is retaining full guard. Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Tarkelson keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Chikatilo looks to clinch and Tarkelson counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Tarkelson. Chikatilo has had enough of the clinch but Tarkelson keeps him there for the moment. Tarkelson wants to break free but Chikatilo has control.

Tarkelson fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Tarkelson is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Chikatilo. Tarkelson will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Chikatilo wants to clinch but Tarkelson slips to the side and Tarkelson counters with a nice double leg into side control. Chikatilo won't be happy with that. Chikatilo gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard. Arvid Tarkelson has got the better of the ground game so far. Tarkelson tries to stand but his arm is trapped. Tarkelson wants to free his trapped foot but Chikatilo is holding on for dear life with his legs. Both fighters are breathing heavily.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Chikatilo is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Tarkelson connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there. Tarkelson shoots for a takedown but Chikatilo saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Andrei Chikatilo has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. Chikatilo wants to stand and escape but instead Tarkelson has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard. Tarkelson stays in close to Chikatilo's body and controls the position. Tarkelson advances position into side control! Chikatilo wants to get back to his feet but Tarkelson is dominant here and he's now got Chikatilo's back!
