Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, James Harden! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ayn Rand! The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, Chris Dean and Steve Erwin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rand takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. Harden works over Rand's head and body with a nice combination.
It looks like Ayn Rand has been cut. We've been told by Harden's head coaches at Doherty's Gym that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. Rand dives in for a single leg takedown but Harden sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. Rand has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight. Rand shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Harden pinned against the cage. Harden gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Rand shoots for a takedown but Harden saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. James Harden has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ayn Rand. Rand shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Harden counters with a straight right hand. Rand on the wrong end of a nice hook. Rand shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Harden napping and manages to drive through into side control! We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Rand in side control, working for a kimura. He's got hold of an arm and he's torquing it... Harden is tapping! That's the end of the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Ayn Rand! Ayn Rand really struggled to get his t-shirt on before his hand was raised. Making sure that Riner Clothing and Laundry (85%) logo gets some air time is pretty tricky when you're all sweaty. James Harden spoke after the fight, saying 'Back to the drawing board for me folks, this is just a bump in the road. I'll be back better than before soon!'.
