Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mohsen Shakouri (ranked 6289 p4p, 186 weight class) and Lew Rockwell (ranked 6903 p4p, 224 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Lew Rockwell! The judges for this bout are Micheangelo Fripello, Paul Gruel and Ryoma Takatsuka.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Shakouri dives in and grabs Rockwell's left leg, looking for a takedown. Rockwell pushes down on Shakouri's head and hops out. Shakouri shoots in and gets a takedown into Rockwell's guard. Shakouri trying to control the position from guard on top but Rockwell is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Rockwell is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Shakouri defends well. Rockwell has an active guard here but Shakouri has managed to pass into half guard.
Shakouri is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. Shakouri working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Rockwell tries to buck Shakouri off but Shakouri is having none of it. Shakouri grinds an elbow into Rockwell's temple. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Rockwell tries to bench press Shakouri off him but Shakouri keeps the position. Rockwell takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better. Rockwell sneaks back into half guard. Shakouri drops an elbow to the side of Rockwell's head. Shakouri working over Rockwell with some ground and pound. Rockwell looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. Rockwell looking for submissions off his back. Shakouri slips a nice elbow through Rockwell's hands, connecting with Rockwell's forehead. Shakouri wants to take a breather but Rockwell is having none of it. Shakouri is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Rockwell can do to turn this around? Rockwell connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son. Rockwell scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard. Rockwell lands a jab to the head.
Rockwell is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range. Shakouri goes for a double leg but Rockwell avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Rockwell continues to drive forward. Rockwell throws a left and a right that both miss
and Shakouri counters with a nice double leg into guard. Shakouri might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Shakouri lands a couple of elbows. Rockwell has his foot on Shakouri's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Shakouri works his way back into a safe position though. This has been an exciting period of action! Rockwell had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Shakouri defends it easily. Shakouri slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Shakouri landing some decent shots from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Shakouri cracks Rockwell with a solid left hand. Rockwell moves out of range of the strikes. Rockwell connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt. Rockwell tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Shakouri manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Jab, jab by Rockwell - just one landing. Rockwell has been working his punching technique in the buildup to the fight and it appears to be paying off. Lew Rockwell is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Shakouri displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Rockwell throws out the jab. Shakouri misses the shot to the body. Shakouri looking to score a takedown here. Rockwell is defending well but Shakouri drives through and ends up in Rockwell's guard. Shakouri landing some decent shots from guard. Rockwell keeping moving, preventing Shakouri from controlling successfully. Rockwell escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Shakouri gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Shakouri not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rockwell has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Shakouri should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Rockwell has tightened it up now! Shakouri should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
