Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bret Collier (ranked 6000 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sergio Menezes (ranked 7777 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Bret Collier!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Sergio Menezes!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fray, Josh West and Jeff Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Collier swinging wildly here.
Collier looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Menezes is fending him off so far but Collier persists. Nope, Menezes circles away and we're back to standing.
Collier throws a right and a left that both miss.
Collier loads up on a big right hand but Menezes slips the punch.
Collier swings and misses with a shot to the body
and Menezes counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Collier takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.

Menezes scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Menezes wants to control but Collier is keeping him busy.
Collier tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Collier struggling a bit here.

Menezes tries to move to full mount but Collier actually manages to regain half guard.
Collier tries to roll over but Menezes keeps him under control.
Collier is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Menezes missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Menezes thows a huge punch but Collier dodges it nicely.
Collier is controlling Menezes's position as best he can from this difficult position.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Menezes with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Collier is on top in guard.

A close round but Sergio Menezes will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Menezes ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Menezes no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Collier throws a nice looking combination but Menezes bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Menezes shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Collier manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Menezes wants to control from the top but Collier keeps moving.
Menezes trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Collier wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Sergio Menezes has got the better of the ground game so far.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Menezes passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Menezes is breathing heavily.
Collier isn't going anywhere.

Menezes misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Menezes wants to stand but Collier is controlling his arm.
Collier tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Menezes wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Collier can't do much from the bottom here.
Menezes throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
Collier is in a bad spot here and he knows it... just holding on for now.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Collier throws a lazy right hand but Menezes sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

Menezes feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Menezes must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Collier drives through and clinches with Menezes against the cage.

Collier jumps guard and drags Menezes to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Menezes is looking to work some ground and pound but Collier has wrist control.

Menezes bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Collier sneaks out the side door and pushes Menezes away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.

Menezes tries to close the distance and clinch up but Collier swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Collier closes the distance and pushes Menezes back into the cage.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Menezes lands a nice knee to the body.
Bret Collier has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Sergio Menezes is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Collier is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Menezes can do to turn this around?

Menezes breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
