PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Baki Hanma (ranked 6831 p4p, 199 weight class) and Full Time Panda (ranked 6856 p4p, 222 weight class). Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Baki Hanma!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Full Time Panda!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fray, Jeff Smith and Roger Salmon.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Panda drives through with a takedown into Hanma's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Hanma has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Panda can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Hanma had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Panda defends it easily.
Panda won't allow Hanma to sweep him here.

Hanma working for a triangle but Panda defends it easily.
Hanma can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Panda controls the pace.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Panda lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Panda not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
My spies in Crapollas Gym inform me that Panda has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!

Hanma looking for a guillotine here but Panda defends easily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Panda postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.

Hanma is looking for a triangle here but Panda uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.

Panda really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Hanma. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Hanma on the wrong end of some ground and pound.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hanma takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Hanma is looking to reverse the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
Panda landing a few strikes.
Hanma manages to get back to half guard.
Panda with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Hanma is trying to get back to full guard.
Panda is nestled in close to Hanma, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Hanma is looking to control Panda's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Hanma avoid being mounted?
Hanma on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.

Hanma trying to keep hold of his opponent's head but Panda manages to pass to mount!
Panda scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Hanma slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
Hanma trying to control from the bottom.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Panda in particular looking to stall.

Hanma wants to improve his position but Panda is controlling well.

Hanma looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Hanma could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Panda takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

Hanma actively working from the bottom here.
Panda drops an elbow to the side of Hanma's head.
Panda content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Ground and pound from Panda.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Panda is nestled in close to Hanma, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Panda looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Hanma with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Hanma is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Full Time Panda dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Panda looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Hanma is looking to improve his position.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Panda lands a nice short elbow.
Panda lands with a punch from half guard.
Panda lands a massive shot from half guard that has rocked Hanma! More strikes land and this one is all over! Panda jumps to his feet and is applauded loudly by the crowd!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:46 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Full Time Panda!
