Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Cheikh Alkamid (ranked 2912 p4p, 248 weight class) and Shamil Kerimov (ranked 3858 p4p, 299 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Shamil Kerimov was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Cheikh Alkamid! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Shamil Kerimov! The judges for this bout are James Glass, Richard Clark and Donald Grub.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kerimov shoots in but Alkamid avoids the takedown attempt easily. Kerimov closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Alkamid did well to prevent Kerimov getting side control. Kerimov thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Kerimov drops an elbow to the side of Alkamid's head. Alkamid avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Kerimov. Kerimov seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. Alkamid has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Kerimov is working away from the top position though. Alkamid on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Alkamid tries to get out of the position. Alkamid is trying to get back to full guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Kerimov scores with a couple of good hammerfists. Kerimov scores with a couple of good hammerfists. Alkamid knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Kerimov on the ground. The referee calls for the fighters to work.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kerimov thows a huge punch but Alkamid dodges it nicely.
Kerimov takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Kerimov wants to lay and pray for a moment but Alkamid keeps working. The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Kerimov working the head and body with strikes. Kerimov has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Kerimov seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. Alkamid keeps control of the position for the meantime. Kerimov wants to lay and pray for a moment but Alkamid keeps working. Kerimov wants to free his trapped foot but Alkamid is holding on for dear life with his legs. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Alkamid controlling the leg, holding on to half guard.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Kerimov steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Alkamid. Kerimov closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so. Nice uppercut there from Alkamid. No luck with that takedown attempt from Kerimov.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Alkamid's corner calls for a 1-2. Alkamid obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range. Kerimov misses with a takedown attempt - Alkamid sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Cheikh Alkamid has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Shamil Kerimov. Excellent takedown into side control there by Kerimov. Alkamid tries to get back to half guard but can't. Alkamid struggling a bit here. Alkamid looks to move to half guard but instead Kerimov has passed into mount! Damn! Kerimov lands a heavy elbow.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Kerimov landing strikes, looking to finish! Alkamid is in all sorts of trouble here.
Alkamid looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio. A nice elbow there by Kerimov. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Alkamid is looking to improve his position but Kerimov isn't that keen on the idea. Kerimov tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Kerimov trying to control but he's not successful this time. Kerimov pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Shamil Kerimov dominated that round. That's time! Back to the action!
Kerimov fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Alkamid fakes a jab and then connects with a hook. Kerimov fails with a takedown attempt from distance. An attempted straight right counter from Alkamid misses the target. Jab, jab by Alkamid - just one landing.
It looks like Shamil Kerimov has been cut. Alkamid looks to land a left hand but Kerimov moved out of range nicely. Kerimov on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere. Alkamid throws a lazy right hand but Kerimov sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Alkamid lands an uppercut out of nowhere! Kerimov falls backwards - clearly groggy! Alkamid dives in and finishes the fight with more strikes for a TKO finish!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:37 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Cheikh Alkamid!
