Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Lamont Banner !
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Herbert Mullin!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Stewart Dunkirk and Frank Dennis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mullin throws an off balance right hand
and Banner counters with a left to the body.
Banner throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Mullin sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Mullin tries to bum rush Banner with a series of wild strikes but Banner uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
It looked like Banner was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Mullin ducks under a wild hook from Banner .
Banner looks to throw the jab but Mullin is out of range.
Mullin scores with a crisp jab that stopped Banner in his tracks.
Banner throws a push kick but Mullin slaps the foot to one side.
Banner throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Banner went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.

Banner lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Banner throws out a loose jab but Mullin uses good head movement to avoid it.
Banner drops his hands momentarily and Mullin takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.

Mullin lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Banner jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.
Banner has managed to clinch.
Banner struggles to land a body shot inside as Mullin controls his hands.
Mullin scores with a shoulder strike.
Mullin tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Banner throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Mullin throws a series of punches but Banner avoids them all with ease.

Mullin pounces like a tiger and cracks Banner with a vicious hook! Banner is down but not out! Mullin follows up with more strikes forcing the ref to jump in and stop it!
