Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Bashaad Al Hammad (ranked 7237 p4p, 0 weight class) and David McCarthy (ranked 14484 p4p, 0 weight class). McCarthy has chosen Chamillionaire - Ridin' ft. Krayzie Bone as his entrance music. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

24 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, David McCarthy!
The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Thiago Cunha and Daniel Cesar.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McCarthy throws a head kick but Al Hammad moves out of range.
Al Hammad half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
Al Hammad fails to land the takedown.
McCarthy fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Al Hammad, pushing him back against the cage.
McCarthy breaks from the clinch.
Al Hammad closes this distance looking for a takedown but McCarthy circles away.
Al Hammad tries to sprawl but McCarthy drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Al Hammad has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. McCarthy is working away from the top position though.
Al Hammad tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
McCarthy blocks the strikes from Al Hammad.
McCarthy tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Al Hammad.
McCarthy stands up out of the half guard.
McCarthy shoots in and bounces Al Hammad off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Al Hammad throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
That's one minute gone in the round.
McCarthy wants to get up but he can't break Al Hammad's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
McCarthy decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Al Hammad, up you get!
Al Hammad shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says McCarthy as he avoids it easily.
McCarthy swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Bashaad Al Hammad. That's going to take a lot out of him.
McCarthy moves into the clinch.
Al Hammad goes for a takedown attempt but McCarthy pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Al Hammad gets tackled into the cage by McCarthy. McCarthy maintains the clinch.
McCarthy prevents a takedown attempt there.
McCarthy breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Al Hammad decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
McCarthy is trying to stand up here but Al Hammad is controlling him well.
McCarthy is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.
Al Hammad thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed McCarthy's head.
McCarthy actively working from the bottom here.
McCarthy has one foot on Al Hammad's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Al Hammad shoots in looking for a takedown but McCarthy manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Al Hammad's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
McCarthy stalks Al Hammad and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Al Hammad's face. Al Hammad staggers backwards, shaken.
It looks like Bashaad Al Hammad has been cut.
David McCarthy seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
McCarthy moves into the clinch.
McCarthy's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Al Hammad shoots in but no luck this time.
Al Hammad moves out of the way of the counter high kick fromMcCarthy.

McCarthy lands with a slapping head kick.
McCarthy darts in and clinches Al Hammad up against the cage.
Al Hammad is looking for a takedown up against the cage. McCarthy gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Al Hammad drops to a knee looking for a takedown but McCarthy gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Al Hammad tries for a takedown but McCarthy manages to get underhooks.
McCarthy gets underhooks to prevent Al Hammad's takedown attempt.
McCarthy jumps guard and drags Al Hammad to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Al Hammad prevents McCarthy from getting back to his feet.
Al Hammad postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Al Hammad is sitting in close to McCarthy's body. McCarthy has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Al Hammad is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Al Hammad is tapping! That was a very nice submission by McCarthy.
