Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jame Boyle! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Paul Bell! The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Dillan Fox and Gregory Folan.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Boyle closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Boyle wants to stand but Bell is controlling his arm. Boyle blocks the strikes from Bell.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet. Bell tries to bench press Boyle off him but Boyle keeps the position. Boyle tries to stand but Bell is controlling his head. Boyle controls the position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Boyle wants to stand but Bell is controlling his arm. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Boyle wants to stand but Bell has him controlled and pulls him back into his guard. Bell has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Bell wants to sweep here but Boyle controlling him for the moment. Bell is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
That's one minute gone in the round. Boyle has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Bell is proving hard to escape from. Boyle in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Bell has a closed guard, preventing Boyle from standing up. Bell managing to control the position.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Bell tests Boyle's chin there with a solid looking shot.
It looks like Jame Boyle has been cut. Bell shoots in looking for a takedown but Boyle manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Bell's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Bell throws a leg kick but Boyle sees it coming and checks it nicely. Bell drives through and clinches with Boyle against the cage.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Bell has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Boyle is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. Boyle is working for takedown but Bell is calmly controlling the position for now. Boyle really is a fat lump. Bell scores with a hook to the body. Boyle breaks from the clinch.
Paul Bell seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Bell moves into the clinch successfully.
A bit of stalling here from Bell.
Boyle goes for a takedown attempt but Bell pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Boyle throws a lazy head kick and Bell counters with a stiff right hand. Boyle is breathing heavily. Bell is throwing a storm of strikes! Right hook, left hook and follows it up with a spinning back fist! Boyle hits the canvas like a rag doll! And just like that, this one is over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:47 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Paul Bell! Paul Bell got down on his knees post fight and begged the management for a title shot. 'Please, I want that title shot so bad! Give it to me!'
