Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kvame Zulu (ranked 157 p4p, 16 weight class) and Gattsu Emelianenko (ranked 298 p4p, 32 weight class). Zulu comes into the arena with Big Badaboom blaring out of the sound system. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kvame Zulu!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Gattsu Emelianenko!
The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Saam Ante and Nard Betker.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Emelianenko just misses with a punch to the body.
A punch lands to the side of Emelianenko 's head but he takes it in his stride.


It looks like Gattsu Emelianenko has been cut.
Emelianenko misses the body punch
and Zulu counters with a body kick.
Emelianenko throws a jab but it's blocked by Zulu.
Zulu looks to throw the jab but Emelianenko is out of range.
Zulu looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Emelianenko takes a swing at Zulu's ribcage but misses.
Zulu jinks towards his opponent looking like he wants to counter with a mid kick but doesn't commit.
Emelianenko throws a predictable looking body shot
and Zulu counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Emelianenko defending well as Zulu loads up on a big left hand.
Emelianenko looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Zulu moves away from the strike by Emelianenko.
Emelianenko moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.


It looks like Kvame Zulu has been cut.
Zulu throws a solid leg kick but Emelianenko takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Zulu.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Zulu, right into the meat.
Zulu cracks the inside of Emelianenko's front leg.
Zulu connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.

Zulu cracks Emelianenko with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Zulu has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Emelianenko to stand back up!


Emelianenko is rocked!
Emelianenko checks the leg kick nicely there.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Emelianenko's jab looks to have found its range, popping Zulu under the eye.
Emelianenko has tried to improve his agility in the runup to this fight.
Emelianenko looks to land a combination but Zulu avoids it well.
Zulu uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Emelianenko.
Zulu throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Zulu delivers a nice body kick.
Zulu throws a body kick despite being completely out of range
and Emelianenko makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Zulu fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
A jab from Emelianenko finds it's way through Zulu's defenses.
Emelianenko lands a nice looking body shot.
Zulu misses with a body shot.
Zulu swings for the body but Emelianenko moves out of range.
Emelianenko misses with a hook. Zulu ducked under it nicely.
Emelianenko takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.

Zulu misses the body punch
and Emelianenko counters with a straight right hand.
Emelianenko slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Zulu throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Emelianenko throws a hook to the side of Zulu's head but Zulu sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Zulu feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Emelianenko sprawling to the canvas! Emelianenko rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Zulu finish him?!
Zulu throws a mid kick that lands with a slap.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Emelianenko scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.

Zulu sends Emelianenko crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Zulu is motioning to the referee to let Emelianenko up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!
Emelianenko is still on wobbly legs! Can Zulu finish him?
Emelianenko tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Zulu was well out of range. Poor timing from Emelianenko.
Zulu moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Emelianenko tries to get into range but Zulu steps to the side and lands a beautiful hook that drops Emelianenko! He's faceplanted into the mat, ass in the air... he's out cold! That's an image he won't want to show his grandkids when he gets older! Zulu scores the big KO victory!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:06 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Kvame Zulu!
Kvame Zulu retains his heavyweight title!
