Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Broderick Cunningham (ranked 24943 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jay Dee (ranked 5028 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Broderick Cunningham!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jay Dee!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Timothy Bukovac and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No luck with that takedown attempt from Dee.
Cunningham could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Dee looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Cunningham wants to sweep but no luck.

Cunningham is looking for a triangle here but Dee uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.

Dee stands up.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Dee forces Cunningham back against the cage and clinches.

Cunningham wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Dee has him pressed against the cage.
Cunningham tries to break the clinch but Dee is controlling the position.

It looks like Broderick Cunningham has been cut.
Cunningham wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Dee has him pressed against the cage.

Dee pulls guard effortlessly.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Cunningham is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Dee wants to sweep but no luck.

Cunningham postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Cunningham throws an elbow that misses. Dee uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Cunningham's guard. Nice move by Dee!


Cunningham looking for subs off his back but Dee has passed one foot through into half guard.
Dee lands with a punch from half guard.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.

Dee is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Cunningham defends it well.
Cunningham tries to roll over but Dee keeps him under control.

Dee scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Cunningham manages to get to full guard.
Dee stays in close to Cunningham's body and controls the position.
Dee distracts Cunningham with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Dee works over Cunningham with some ground and pound from guard.
Cunningham is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Dee is trying to control but can't.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Dee can do anything to dispel that myth.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Cunningham is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Dee flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Dee is looking for a sweep. Cunningham is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Dee wants to control but Cunningham is keeping busy.
Dee blocking the ground and pound attempt from Cunningham.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Cunningham throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Dee is positioning himself well to prevent Cunningham advancing to mount.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jay Dee dominated that round.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



Dee gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Dee has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Cunningham tries to break free but Dee pushes him back against the cage.

Dee turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Dee manages to end up in side control.
Cunningham tries to buck Dee off but Dee is having none of it.
Dee scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Cunningham to see if he's OK.

Dee tries for a kimura but Cunningham is defending well.
Cunningham is trying to improve his position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Cunningham is working hard here to advance position.
Cunningham bucks up and tries to throw Dee off but instead Dee has got his back!

That's one minute gone in the round.

Dee is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.

Dee is working for a rear naked choke. Cunningham is not defending it well and Dee has tightened it up quickly! This could be all over! Cunningham refuses to tap and goes to sleep, forcing the referee to intervene. A little trickle of blood came out of Cunningham's nose as his head slumped to the floor. That is naaaasty!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:30 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Jay Dee!
Jay Dee took to the mic in his post fight interview and said 'GGEZ'.
