Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Lucio Francisco Carmo (ranked 18896 p4p, 243 weight class) and Kevin Shinnie (ranked 2479 p4p, 110 weight class). Carmo's entrance music is Rolling Stones - Paint it, Black. A fine choice. Kevin Shinnie has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Lucio Francisco Carmo! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
12 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Kevin Shinnie! The judges for this bout are Aleksei Zolotukhin, Illya Tyunina and Viktor Lagutenko.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! The fighters circling - Shinnie throws out the jab but it was never going to land. A slow jab from Shinnie misses its intended target. Shinnie defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Carmo. Carmo rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Shinnie counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
It looks like Lucio Francisco Carmo has been cut. Carmo throws a big shot that misses. It seemed like Shinnie was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it. Carmo lands a jab-cross combination.
It looks like Kevin Shinnie has been cut. Shinnie misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Carmo.
Nice jab there from Carmo. Shinnie lands a really nice looking cross but Carmo seems unphased.
Carmo darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. This has been an exciting period of action! Shinnie looks like he's trying to stand up.
Shinnie has one foot on Carmo's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet. Shinnie throws a jab but it's blocked by Carmo. Carmo feinted with a counter takedown.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ouch! a nice leg kick from Shinnie, right into the meat.
Shinnie throws a body kick that misses and Carmo counters with a takedown into side control. Shinnie is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Carmo has just dragged him back down to the mat. Carmo working the ground and pound but Shinnie is defending the strikes. Carmo tries to advance to mount but can't. Shinnie is pushing Carmo's head away, looking to escape. Carmo manages to hold on to the position though. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Carmo taking a breather here. Shinnie is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here. Carmo has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Carmo wants to lay and pray for a moment but Shinnie keeps working. Carmo tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it. Shinnie is trying to get back to his feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Shinnie bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet! Shinnie scores with a kick to the body.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Carmo keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Shinnie. Carmo walks into a left hand. Carmo shoots in looking for a takedown but Shinnie manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Carmo's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Shinnie lunges at Carmo with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Carmo's hand. Carmo throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Shinnie counters with a straight right hand. Shinnie blocks a jab. Good exchange - Shinnie coming out on top. Shinnie walks into a stiff left hand from Carmo.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Shinnie throws a body kick that misses. Carmo feinted with a counter takedown. Shinnie looks to land a left hand but Carmo moved out of range nicely. Shinnie throws a hook but Carmo blocks it. Shinnie misses the shot to the body. Shinnie connects with a single shot there. Carmo takes a swing at Shinnie's ribcage but misses. Kevin Shinnie is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. The fighters circling - Carmo throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Shinnie with a nice cross. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Carmo is defended easily by Shinnie. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Lucio Francisco Carmo. That's going to take a lot out of him. Carmo takes one to the chin there.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Carmo slips a jab from Shinnie. Carmo changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit. Shinnie looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Shinnie is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Carmo had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté. Carmo just misses with a punch to the body.
Shinnie scores with the left hand. Carmo knows he should have avoided that one. Carmo slips under a jab. Carmo displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Shinnie throws out the jab. Carmo slips a straight right by Shinnie. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Shinnie misses the shot to the body. Shinnie fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Carmo has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage. An inside leg kick lands from Shinnie. Shinnie lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh. A telegraphed right hand from Shinnie misses the target. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Carmo on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot. Carmo throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Shinnie's waist but Shinnie gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Carmo off to one side. Carmo swings away with a body shot that misses
and Shinnie counters with a lovely straight right hand! Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Shinnie. Carmo drops down looking for a counter takedown but Shinnie sprawls and moves away. Carmo swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Shinnie. Carmo moves out of range as Shinnie strikes. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Shinnie scores with a jab to the body. Shinnie scores with the left hand. Carmo knows he should have avoided that one. Carmo misses the jab. Shinnie cracks Carmo with a right hand to the side of the head. Kevin Shinnie seems to be getting the better of the standup.

Carmo appears to be looking for a counter takedown. Shinnie throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Carmo sees it coming and avoids it easily. Carmo gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Shinnie counters with a straight right hand. Shinnie feints and then cracks Carmo's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Carmo down. Shinnie misses with an uppercut. Carmo throws a series of punches but Shinnie avoids them all with ease. Carmo takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.

Carmo uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Shinnie. Shinnie comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range. Shinnie looks to score with a jab to the body but Carmo is just out of range. Shinnie throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Carmo.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Carmo with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Shinnie to score with a decent uppercut. Carmo getting the better of the striking in that exchange. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Carmo defending well as Shinnie loads up on a big left hand. Carmo drops down looking for a counter takedown but Shinnie sprawls and moves away. Carmo fails with the takedown. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Lucio Francisco Carmo. That's going to take a lot out of him. Shinnie scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one. Shinnie fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Carmo. Carmo drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Shinnie tries to escape but Carmo is in control. Shinnie being controlled for a moment.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Shinnie pushes Carmo away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Carmo gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control. Shinnie stops Carmo from passing to mount. Shinnie felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it. Carmo is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Shinnie's shoulder. That is not cool. Carmo looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Shinnie is avoiding damage well.
Carmo tries to advance to mount but can't. Shinnie tries to escape but Carmo is in control. Carmo tries to move into full mount but can't pass Shinnie's legs. Carmo controls the position. Carmo prevents Shinnie from escaping the position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Carmo misses with a double jab.
Carmo pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Shinnie pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Shinnie throws a lazy right hand but Carmo sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Shinnie scores with a shot to the body.

and Carmo counters with a shoot takedown. Shinnie fights it but they end up in guard. Shinnie pushes Carmo off and scrambles back to his feet.
Carmo throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Carmo moves away from the strike by Shinnie. Kevin Shinnie seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Shinnie tries a head kick but it misses.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Kevin Shinnie showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

and Shinnie counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Carmo is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight. Shinnie cracks a nice hook into Carmo's ribs. Nice cross by Shinnie. Carmo throws a combination that misses and Shinnie counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt. Shinnie scores with a slapping inside leg kick. Shinnie jabs Carmo to the body, keeping him at a distance. Carmo takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him. Carmo throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Shinnie counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body. Shinnie bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Carmo's head backwards. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Carmo tries for a takedown but Shinnie circles away easily and Carmo takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Carmo is rocked! This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Shinnie darts in and lands a big hook, right on the button! Carmo's legs crumble underneath him as he falls to the canvas! The ref tackles Shinnie before he gets to land any more shots to his stricken foe.
